Job Description

Finance Administrator
Regional Office Worker - Site & Community based (Covering Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire)
Salary: Starting from £35,000 per annum + Package

About the role

We are looking for a Finance Administrator with the accuracy, organisation and financial discipline to keep a high-profile employment programme running smoothly.

You will support the financial administration of the Youth Jobs Guarantee programme, processing employer payments, onboarding costs and grant-funded expenditure so claims are accurate, evidenced and submitted on time.

This is a role where detail matters. Every claim needs the right evidence, every payment must be recorded correctly, and every return must stand up to validation and audit.

Working with employers, delivery colleagues and DWP stakeholders, you will review claims, resolve queries, maintain clear records and spot discrepancies before they affect payment, compliance or confidence in the service.

What you will be doing

  • Process payments and claims for wages, onboarding costs and programme expenditure, checking eligibility, evidence and accuracy.
  • Keep records audit-ready by maintaining clear trackers, approvals, documentation and evidence trails.
  • Complete financial returns and reconciliations, helping monitor expenditure, resolve differences and support quarterly reviews.
  • Work with employers and colleagues to gather missing information, answer payment queries and keep claims moving.
  • Protect funding and compliance by identifying risks, escalating issues early and handling financial, employer and participant information securely.
  • Improve how things work by spotting practical ways to make financial administration more accurate, consistent and efficient.

Qualifications

About you

You will be an organised and reliable administrator with experience in finance administration, accounts, payroll support, grant-funded programmes or another setting where accuracy, evidence and deadlines are non-negotiable.

You will be confident with numbers, spreadsheets and financial trackers. You do not need to be a qualified accountant, but you must be able to work carefully with figures, question inconsistencies and know when something does not look right.

You will bring strong attention to detail, clear communication and the confidence to follow up missing evidence or challenge discrepancies professionally. You will be comfortable managing several tasks at once, working to deadlines and escalating issues early.

Experience of public-sector funding, grant agreements, audit, compliance, payroll processes or employer-cost reimbursement would be valuable. Confidence using Microsoft Excel and digital reporting or record-keeping systems will be important.

Most importantly, you will understand the purpose behind the process: accurate financial administration helps employers participate confidently, protects public funding and supports young people to access meaningful employment.

If you combine strong organisation, numerical confidence and excellent attention to detail with a practical, helpful approach, we would like to hear from you.
