Finance & Accounting Intern - Huntsville, AL

Job Description

Purpose and Scope:

Amentum is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Finance & Accounting Intern for our Summer Internship Program to support operations in Huntsville, AL.  This opportunity is ideal for students pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, looking to gain real-world experience in a dynamic and mission-driven organization.

This is a temporary role not to exceed 14 weeks.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Assist with monthly financial reporting and analysis

• Support budgeting and forecasting processes

• Reconcile general ledger accounts

• Help with cost tracking, invoice processing and audit preparation

• Analyze financial data and present insights to team leaders

• Participate in cross-functional meetings and special projects

• Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures

• Other duties as assigned.

Requisition Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Accounting, Finance or a related field at an accredited university.

• Completed at least 24 credit hours.

• Minimum of 2.8 GPA.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite

• Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency may be a requirement for this position.

• Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications

• Excellent analytical and organizational skills

• Ability to work independently and in a team environment

• Knowledge of SharePoint Online and Power tools

Work Environment
Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).
