Position Summary: The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for completing a variety of tasks to support the daily operations of the HR department. Tasks may be related to onboarding, employee relations, unemployment, leaves, and other HR matters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Track and administer leave programs, ensuring the company complies with all local, state, and federal regulations. This includes helping to facilitate accommodation requests.
  • Assist with investigating routine matters, summarizing reports, and contributing to the conversation of any subsequent employee actions.
  • Coach and guide managers on performance management matters.
  • Analyze data and create reports for decision-makers.
  • Help to prepare documentation and information for unemployment hearings.
  • Work in conjunction with the safety team and managers on workers' compensation matters.
  • Collect and analyze internal and external information in order to compare the organization's HR practices to those prevailing in the market.
  • Answer basic employee questions relating to company policy and practices
  • May lead or assist with training activities such as new employee orientation or other classes.
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze data to identify trends. May be involved with the recommendation and execution of further action.
  • Assist in complying with any local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Participate in continuous HR improvement initiatives and metrics.
  • Assist with any other internal or external HR issues as they arise.
  • Assist the HR team in the development and revision of personnel policies and procedures and communicate as necessary.
  • Assist with the writing and distribution of the monthly HR newsletter.
  • Recommend policy and/or practice changes to align organizational values with employee behavior, ensuring that the organization fosters a positive and productive work environment.
  • Co-facilitate the New Employee Orientation (NEO) program for new hires.
  • Partner with Payroll, HRIS, Compensation, and Benefits functions as needed to provide solutions for employees.
  • Assist with processing terminations and other HRIS actions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.


Experience and Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources is preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 2+ years of related HR generalist experience.
  • Working understanding of human resource principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Excellent record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work comfortably under pressure while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Excellent computer literacy with capability in email, and related HR software programs.
  • Understanding of labor law and employment equity regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced, at times stressful, environment.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and/or Access).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).


Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Certifications:

  • Experience with HRIS system UKG.
  • Human Resources certification, i.e., SHRM-CP, PHR, etc.


Travel Requirements:

  • No travel required.


Overtime/Additional Hours Requirements:

  • May be requested to work overtime on evenings and weekends dependent on business need.


Physical Requirements:

  • Normal office environment.
  • Performs indoor work in a climate-controlled environment.
  • Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
