BAE Systems is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Field Service Representative (FSR) to provide on-site sustainment support for the U.S. Navy P-8A Poseidon Mission Compute Sustainment Program at Boeing Jacksonville (BJAX) and NAS JAX, Jacksonville, Florida.
The successful candidate will serve as BAE Systems' primary on-site technical representative, providing direct customer support to the U.S. Navy and Boeing while supporting Mission Compute System sustainment activities. The FSR will troubleshoot complex avionics hardware and software issues, coordinate with engineering teams, support aircraft induction and acceptance activities, assist with fielded system integration, and help improve aircraft availability through responsive technical support and customer engagement.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment, possesses excellent technical and interpersonal skills, and can independently represent BAE Systems while building trusted relationships with customers and stakeholders.
This position is based in Jacksonville, Florida. Local candidates are strongly preferred to support rapid customer response.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary on-site BAE Systems technical representative supporting the U.S. Navy P-8A Mission Compute Sustainment Program.
- Provide daily technical support to U.S. Navy and Boeing personnel supporting P-8 aircraft operations and sustainment, acting as a key point of contact for technical issues.
- Troubleshoot and isolate complex avionics hardware, software, and system integration issues within the Mission Compute system.
- Support aircraft induction, acceptance testing, return-to-service activities, and operational verification.
- Coordinate technical issues with BAE Systems engineering, manufacturing, repair, logistics, and program management organizations.
- Document troubleshooting activities, corrective actions, engineering recommendations, and customer interactions using established documentation and procedures.
- Support installation, configuration, verification, and validation of mission system hardware and software updates and modifications.
- Identify recurring failure trends and recommend reliability and process improvements.
- Provide technical guidance and informal training to customer personnel as required, fostering knowledge transfer.
- Maintain effective communication with customers , providing regular updates and ensuring timely resolution of technical issues.
- Represent BAE Systems professionally, fostering strong customer relationships built on responsiveness, technical expertise, and trust.
- Support occasional CONUS/OCONUS travel (approximately 10%) in support of customer requirements and program execution.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Associate Degree in Engineering Technology, Electronics, Computer Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline OR equivalent U.S. military technical training with a minimum of four (4) years of directly related experience
- Minimum four (4) years of experience in avionics, electronics, aircraft maintenance, or field service supporting military aircraft systems
- Must hold an active Top Secret security clearance required at time of hire
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware and software issues with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted customer relationships through responsiveness, technical competence, professionalism, and effective communication
- Understanding of DoW aircraft maintenance procedures and operational environments
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, technical manuals, maintenance procedures, and engineering documentation
- Working knowledge of aircraft LRUs, SRUs, and avionics integration concepts
- Experience documenting technical findings, troubleshooting activities, and corrective actions
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in an operational environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Ability to lift a minimum of 30 pounds and safely work on aircraft, maintenance stands, and ladders
- Willingness to travel approximately 10% in support of program requirements
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Hold an active TS/SCI clearance
- Previous experience supporting the P-8A Poseidon aircraft platform.
- Experience supporting Mission Compute Systems, mission systems integration, or avionics sustainment.
- Previous Field Service Representative (FSR) or Field Service Engineer (FSE) experience.
- Experience supporting U.S. Navy aviation programs and/or Boeing military aircraft programs.
- Technical Skills (Strongly Preferred):
- Experience with computing based systems, servers and associated hardware diagnostics.
- Solid understanding of basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, UDP, Ethernet, subnetting, routing,). Ability to use basic networking tools (ping, traceroute, iperf) for troubleshooting connectivity.
- Working knowledge of Linux operating systems and command-line interface focus for logs analysis and troubleshooting. Experience with shell scripting (Bash) is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with data interfaces including Fiber Optic, Ethernet, and Serial communication protocols.
- Demonstrated understanding of mission computing systems, particularly systems with a modular architecture. Ability to understand the flow of data between system components and identify potential points of failure.
- Experience with discrete I/O systems and understanding of signal types (digital, analog) and interfaces.
- Experience with configuration management tools or processes
- Familiarity with debugging tools for hardware and software.
- Experience performing root cause analysis and resolving intermittent avionics failures.
- Experience supporting aircraft acceptance testing, functional verification, and operational checkout.
- Experience working directly with engineering organizations to resolve fielded system issues.
- Familiarity with reliability improvement initiatives, including No Fault Found (NFF) reduction and process improvement. (e.g., Lean, Continuous Improvement, RCM).
- Military experience as an avionics technician, electronics technician, mission systems maintainer, or equivalent MOS/NEC/AFSC.
- Experience supporting depot maintenance, aircraft modification, production, or sustainment operations.
- Familiarity with Mission Computers, Data Storage Systems, tactical communications, or related avionics systems.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $88189 - $149922
