Job Description

We're looking for an experienced Field Robotics Engineer to contribute to the development, deployment, and maintenance of AeroVect's autonomous driving stack. The ideal candidate possesses a strong theoretical background in Robotics and Autonomous Vehicles and excels across various areas of the autonomy stack, making them a versatile generalist engineer. In this role, you will leverage your strong theoretical knowledge and practical experience to ensure the robustness and efficiency of our autonomous vehicles for airport logistics.

Responsibilities

  1. Develop, deploy, and maintain software for autonomous vehicles using C++ and ROS2.

  2. Good understanding of the entire stack to debug and troubleshoot issues with the autonomous system in real-time at the customer site, providing quick and effective solutions.

  3. Work closely with the hardware and software engineering teams to integrate new features and improvements into the autonomous system.

  4. Conduct and orchestrate field tests with the testing engineers to validate the performance and safety of the autonomous vehicles.

  5. Analyze data from field tests and deployments to identify and address issues, optimizing the performance of the system.

  6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of the autonomous vehicles.

  7. Must be able to pass federal background checks and receive and maintain issuance of an airport security badge

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

  2. At least 1-2 years of experience working with autonomous vehicles or robotics systems.

  3. Strong proficiency in C++ and ROS2 framework (including tools like Rviz, Rqt, plotjuggler, etc)

  4. Advanced understanding of Git and Linux.

  5. Strong reasoning skills and mathematics background including linear algebra, geometry, calculus, and probability to name a few.

  6. Excellent debugging skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues quickly.

  7. Exceptional communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Master’s degree in Robotics or a related field.

  2. Experience with sensor integration and diagnostics managers for autonomous systems.

  3. Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

  4. Advanced proficiency in Python or Shell Scripting for automation purposes.

  5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in dynamic field environments.
