The Single Cell Biology Lab (SCBL) at The Jackson Laboratory (JAX) is seeking a motivated Field Applications Specialist (FAS) to join our multidisciplinary team of 14 experts. The SCBL is a cutting-edge scientific core facility that provides advanced services in high-content and high-throughput screening (HCS/HTS) for 2D/3D cellular models, drug and genetic screens. Ths SCBL also provides expertise and service in single-cell/spatial omics assays to support groundbreaking research in genetics, immunology, women’s health, developmental biology, and more.

The FAS will play a critical role in advancing the SCBL’s automation capabilities, providing technical expertise on automated liquid handling platforms, and ensuring the seamless integration of these technologies into high-impact research workflows. Responsibilities include defining system requirements, developing, and validating workflows, programming and maintaining automated instruments, and delivering expert operator training.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop, validate, and refine protocols for 2D/3D cell cultures using automated liquid handling platforms in collaboration with the SCBL and researchers.
  • Program instruments, develop workflows, and adapt cell cultures for automation in HCS screening.
  • Prepare training materials, SOPs, and maintenance protocols for automated systems.
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and long-term maintenance for liquid handling platforms.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of industrial or laboratory experience.
  • Hands-on expertise with automated liquid handling platforms such as Hamilton, Beckman Coulter, or PerkinElmer.
  • Experience in high-throughput screening, high-content biology, or similar research automation settings.
  • Strong communication skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.

Pay Range (Hourly) : $28.57 - $37.14
