The Opportunity
Picarro is looking for a customer-facing technical processional to become a key member of our Energy Field Operations & Engineering Team. This individual will have a hands-on approach, a strong technical acuity and a willingness to drive customer satisfaction. This person will play a vital role in supporting pre and post sales activity within major North America Utility Companies. They will also interface with new customers to organize and carry out field demonstrations and field trials using Picarro’s flagship solution at customer sites.
Roles & Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of the FAE are to Picarro business sustaining/development activities and ultimately support and develop of relationships with existing Picarro utility customers. The FAE supports Sales in key accounts to develop a broad understanding of customer requirements and concerns and to work with Sales to position the capabilities of the technology/solution, it is imperative that the FAE fully understand the system level capabilities allowing Picarro to maximize the benefit we can offer to our customers. The FAE will continue to be the primary technical support champion for the customer as they move forward in the deployment of the hardware/software platform solution.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver hardware/software installation and customer on-boarding
- Address field questions and respond appropriately, providing detailed technical answers along with technical documentation as required
- Provide remote, field support 24/7 as required
- Ability promote and instruct customers in new and alternative use case/applications made possible by advancements in Picarro Surveyor
- Be proactive as a customer advocate, looking for and solving problems before they surface
- Support on site Customer Field Trials and Pilots, operating the Surveyor and consolidating results
- Log Customer issues and track resolutions
Desired Skills and Experience
Field applications engineers need a wide range of skills and a solid technical base. Because field application engineers provide technical support, they must create and give technical presentations and demonstrations. They also must be familiar with technical product specifications and be able to point out the specific technical merits of our solution. Strong communication skills, both in person, over the phone or email are critically important in this role. Because customers want to be assured that the technology is reliable, the field applications engineer must be able to back up technical claims. This often requires that the field applications engineer prepare and present technical or competitive information.
- Field experience or hands-on practice or knowledge of multi-disciplinary system design and development (systems such as electrical, electronics, computerized, mechanical, optical or a combination of these)
- Experience working in a customer facing role
- Microsoft and Android operating systems update skills
- Strong wireless environment debug skills
- Automotive hardware/electrical knowledge a plus
- Software or hardware design experience is a benefit
- Clean, detailed and clear documentation practitioner
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical audiences
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities
- Ability to travel to customer sites and conferences required
- Strong organization, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Self-starter that can work independently, make necessary decisions and follow through with action plans
Qualifications
- BS in an engineering or science discipline
- Additional technical and professional credentials relating to aforementioned skills would be advantageous
- 2 to 5 years, experience in a technical customer support role
Salary Range is 95k-110k.
