Location/Region: This position is located in North Carolina. Best place is Charlotte, Huntersville and Cornelis. Overnight travel 5 times a month after training.

What’s the role?

The Field Application Engineer (FAE) will assist our customers and our Zeiss Sales team with pre-post-sales application engineering activities such as product demonstrations, proof of concepts (POC) and sales support. Further post sales activities such as helping customers with understanding and applying our hardware and software systems.  This support can be provided in a variety of ways, including additional product demonstrations, custom support classes, telephone, and on-site support.   This important consultative role specifically always requires professional conduct and customer orientation.

Here’s what you’ll do:

• Plan, prepare and perform high quality customer demonstrations, both in-house and in the field as needed.
• Provide technical consultation to Field Sales personnel and our customers, network in matters relating to advanced applications and systems.
• Facilitate the flow and accuracy of technical information to the Field Sales force.
• Maintain a focus on advanced applications and new ZEISS microscopy technology.
• Support the introduction of new products into the North American Market.
• Provide technical after-sales support for customers to help ensure successful use of our systems.
• Provide field support for all ZEISS light microscopy systems:
  - Respond to all customer related software/applications support questions
  - Respond to any Carl Zeiss Industrial Quality Solutions department requiring   software/applications support
  - Aid with software and system testing in support of product development

• Installation of light microscopy hardware

  - On-site and remote software training

• Provide applications expertise for necessary project related activities:
  - Respond to customer request which typically includes analyzing inspection
     requirements

• - Tradeshow support of microscopy systems

• Ability to understand and support IT related issues:
  - Windows Operating System knowledge
  - Networking
  - Database management

Do you qualify?

• A four-year degree in Engineering, Materials Science Physics is required.  Equivalent work-related experience may be considered.
• Experience in light microscopy strongly preferred
• Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Must have an understanding of materials analysis, experience in the field preferred.
• Must have excellent verbal communication skills and be comfortable presenting technical information to small or large audiences.
