Key Responsibilities
- Commissioning and editing feature stories in many forms, from reporting to analysis to a combination of the two
- Generating a wide range of ideas for both staff writers and freelancers
- Editing staff writers on both features and daily work
- Supporting fellow editors on features and more, including keeping a tight calendar with clear deadlines
Requirements
- At least five years’ experience working as an editor, with demonstrable feature-editing experience
- A deep well of story ideas and an understanding of what makes a Slate story stand out
- Top-notch organizational and communication skills
- Smarts, kindness, humor, and generosity to match your colleagues
