Job Summary:

Responsible for team providing customers and sales department staff with product, technical, and engineering support for assigned supplier or region. Manages timely dissemination of technical information to the team via in person or on-line training. Sets strategy for global technical support for the supplier or region. Manages a team of field application engineers.


Principal Responsibilities:

  • Manages the technical team and utilization of resources.
  • Reviews and provides progress updates with management.
  • Identifies, evaluates, and implements new service approaches and concepts to exceed customer expectations, improve service levels, and streamline workflows.
  • Ensures timely, accurate, and efficient engineering support to customers.
  • Assigns responsibilities and establishes and maintains communications between sales, marketing, and other staff.
  • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with customers, manufacturers’ representatives, and suppliers.
  • Brings together and deploys the individuals, processes and resources to meet supplier needs.
  • Encourages and supports staff training efforts to ensure currency of knowledge for successful product development.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Establishes operating policies and procedures that affect departments and direct teams. Interprets enterprise-wide policies and procedures. Develops budgets, schedules and performance standards for one or more departments. Responsible for resources and policy formation in area of responsibility.
  • Assignments are defined in the form of long-term objectives. Decisions are guided by resource availability, functional objectives and independent judgment.
  • Collaborates frequently with internal and/or external management. Leads meetings and briefings for internal and/or external representatives. Often coordinates efforts between functional areas and/or members of an extended assignment/project team.
  • Decisions likely have extended impact on the outcomes of multiple departments or teams. Erroneous decisions or recommendations will likely result in critical delays and/or modifications to projects and/or operations; causing substantial expenditure of additional time, people and/or financial resources, and jeopardize future business activity.


Work Experience:

  • Typically 8+ years including 3+ years of management experience


Education and Certification(s):

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained.


Distinguishing Characteristics:

  • Proven track record of implementing and realizing results from transformation and/or strategic initiatives enterprise-wide and globally. Strong ability to influence senior executives and connect with teams to deliver change/results. Deep analytical skills coupled with strong interpersonal/influencing capabilities. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
