FACILITIES OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN

Micron's Facilities Team is looking for a HVAC/R Operations Technician to join their new wafer fabrication facility in Boise, Idaho. You will collaborate closely with trades maintenance technicians to ensure detailed system maintenance, including operating equipment to facilitate maintenance activities. Responsibilities: 

• Understand mechanical and HVAC/R systems, including chiller plants, compressed air, heating water, cooling water, process exhaust, cleanroom HVAC/R, and general building HVAC/R. 

• Adhere to all safety procedures, including LOTO and NFPA 70E standards, and work with the Emergency Response Team (ERT) as first responders. 

• Provide timely and detailed preventive maintenance on highly technical facilities equipment, and maintain records on maintenance, testing, and calibrations of equipment. 

• Perform routine maintenance, order and maintain equipment, meet local HVAC/R codes, and communicate with clients and customers. 

• Conduct various rounds and readings, system and alarm monitoring, and solve faults and alarms. Understand P&ID drawings and one-line diagrams. 

• Respond effectively and proficiently to restore equipment to service as soon as possible in the event of a system failure. Identify and respond to alarm conditions. 

• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, understand refrigeration cycles, and interpret various technical data, such as pressure and temperature. 

• Ability to regularly lift and carry items weighing 25–40 pounds (approximately 10% of job duties) and perform light assembly tasks using hand-held tools weighing less than 3 pounds. 

• Work with various gases and chemicals used for production processes and maintenance. 

• Stand for up to 10 hours per shift and walk intermittently (1-5 miles per shift) to fulfill job requirements 

• Navigate safely over uneven terrain or within confined spaces to perform job duties effectively.  

• Proficiency in carrying out responsibilities that involve bending, crouching, or kneeling, and in safely traversing uneven surfaces or tight spaces 

Minimum Requirements: 

• High school diploma and/or equivalent experience 

• Ability to work 12-hour shifts (3 on/4 off and 4 on/3 off) and switch from days to nights every 4 months, with the ability to move to different shifts to support facilities as required by business needs. 

• 0 months - 1 year in the field of industry or Facilities Maintenance. 

• 1 year of experience in HVAC, Refrigeration, Maintenance, or Manufacturing. 

• The ability to always wear fab-specific clean room garments (100%) to prevent human contamination of products, and occasionally wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), such as a chemical apron and face shield (approximately 1% of the time).  

Preferred Requirements: 

• 2+ years of industry or Facilities Maintenance experience. 

• 2+ years of HVAC, Refrigeration, Maintenance, or Manufacturing experience. 

• 2+ years of military training or experience involving technical skills in HVAC, refrigeration, or mechanical maintenance. 

• 2+ years of mechanical knowledge or experience with mechanical systems, tools, or machines. 

• A valid HVAC/R license.
