Job Description
OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE
The Facilities Equipment Technician is responsible for the management of small miscellaneous instruments, Category B equipment and the facility DI water system. in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), applicable sections of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs), with emphasis on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988 (CLIA), and applicable Takeda and BioLife polices, procedures and quality initiatives.
ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Monitor, inspect and maintain equipment to be compliant with processes and procedures..
  • Serve as focal point for equipment related topics during internal and external regulatory inspections.
  • Interact with equipment/service vendors as appropriate.
  • Provide, coordinate and manage applicable instrument calibration processes and records.
  • Maintain the Preventive Maintenance records as well as set the frequency of PM's based on historical data or manufacturer recommendations.
  • Responsible for the calibration and maintenance tracking system.
  • Provide support for the Rees Environmental Monitoring system.
  • Responsible for initiating deviations as needed for Out of Tolerance notifications.
  • Responsible for removing equipment from service on or prior to the maintenance due date, or if documentation review suggest a negative impact to test results.
  • Responsible for shipping equipment/instruments out for calibration and maintaining shipping log.
  • Responsible for entering equipment and maintaining the Vigilant Maintenance Tracking System.
  • Initiate and route Category B forms.
  • Assist with organizing and maintain document storage.
  • Maintain up to date MSDS records.
  • May assist with ordering through the procurement system
  • May assist in Lab Office as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor degree from an accredited college/university in a biomedical discipline (Chemical, physical, biological, clinical lab science, or medical technology,)

OR

  • Associate degree from an accredited college/university in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology

OR

  • High School Diploma with minimum 3 years relevant laboratory work experience


Desired:
Bachelor degree in medical technology or Associates degree in medical laboratory technology
1 year laboratory training or work experience preferred
MT or MLT certification from ASCP or other accredited certifying organization preferred

U.S. Hourly Wage Range:
$20.53 - $32.26
The estimated hourly wage range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
