The Role

FACE TO FACE FUNDRAISERS (CANCER RESEARCH UK) 
  

Salary: £26,000 - £28,000 + benefits (including paid travel when working out of London) 

Location: Will be working in shopping centres, train stations and other locations throughout London and south east England (ideally, candidates should be based within London or the surrounding area) 

Hours: 35 hours per week 

Contract length: Permanent

Interview Process: Please fill out your work history, and answer a short application question. If you are selected for interview we will invite you to a recruitment day at our head office in Stratford E20 1JQ on Tuesday 12th May between 10:00 - 14:00 so you will need to be available on that day. You'll meet the team, hear more about the role, there will then be a short task and interview.

We are looking for candidates who love speaking to people on a daily basis. You will be self-motivated, passionate and enjoy using words to persuade and inspire. It’s also a great chance to improve your communication skills, up your confidence and discover a talent you never knew you had.  
  

What will I be doing?  

  • Engaging with the public at stands in shopping centres and inspiring them to make regular donations via Direct Debit 

  • Working as part of a team of fundraising experts 

  • Sharing engaging and inspiring stories regarding Cancer Research UK progress and goals 

  • Being responsible for setting up your stand and working environment in private site venues 

  • Representing CRUK with the highest level of professionalism, treating the public fairly and with respect. 

What skills will I need? 

  • Excellent communication skills and customer experience with confidence in speaking to the public 

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly and influence others 

  • An ability to work under pressure 

  • Experience of delivering and achieving targets in a customer-related environment or similar 

  • Strong resilience to handle negative objections

  • Experience in a fundraising role will be beneficial but is not essential.

Eligibility criteria

Internal candidates should ideally have completed their 6-month ‘getting started’ period before applying for other roles. You should also advise your current line manager at the point you make an internal application, or at the latest, at the point of being invited for an interview.
 

All internal candidates applying for a secondment, must have:

  • completed their getting started period

  • discussed their intention to apply and gained approval to apply with their line manager

  • been in their substantive (home) role for at least 6 months (this is only applicable if you have previously been on secondment)
