Great Plains Manufacturing is currently seeking a 2nd Shift Fabrication Lead to join our team in our Salina facility. 


This position works Monday-Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., with overtime on Fridays, as required.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage safety, productivity, delivery, and the quality of fabricated products.
  • Supervise, coach, mentor, train and promote career path opportunities to team members.
  • Conduct performance reviews with team members. 
  • Generate check fixtures, pride implements, and demonstrate basic understanding of press brake programming.
  • Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Observe machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction.
  • Monitor fabrication tasks and recommend quality improvement initiatives to the Fabrication Manager.
  • Aggressively pursue production due dates and the completion of hot parts.
  • Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment.
  • Other duties may be assigned that require additional qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment. 

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • One to three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and documents such as safety rules and operating/maintenance/procedure manuals; write correspondence
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 
  • Computer proficiency in word processing, Internet, email, spreadsheets, and other software          
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred

Skills Required

  • Basic understanding of press brake programming and ability to generate check fixtures
