Sedgman is seeking a Fabrication Advisor to join our Brisbane office. With a strong pipeline of multi-discipline projects across the Minerals Processing sector, this role offers the opportunity to provide technical procurement services across the business. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your expertise in a fast-paced consulting environment, shaping innovative solutions for our clients. 

In this role you will be responsible for the planning and execution of fabrication contract packages including logistics and offsite assembly where applicable. Ensure suitable suppliers are selected for fabrication scopes and then monitor progress, quality, packing and site delivery, while leveraging Digital Engineering to optimise project delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and administer fabrication, logistics and offsite assembly activities to ensure that projects are executed in accordance with plans, designs and specifications.

  • Participate in constructability reviews 

  • Bid, evaluate & award of packages in compliance with procurement plan & procedures including assemble RFT, commercial evaluation, coordination of technical evaluation, negotiation, RFA, conforming & execution of contract

  • Contract administration including kick-off /progress meetings, expediting contract deliverables, progress /program monitoring, reporting, resolving EOT & variation claims, defects, payment claim assessment /certification, issuing /responding to formal correspondence /notices via Aconex, contract completion /close-out

  • Cost management for assigned packages ensuring commitments, costs to date, accruals, cost forecasting accurate /current

  • Monitor and report internally driven changes to the scope of works for all contract packages within a project

  • Monitor and report procurement activities progress and program and implement corrective action as required

  • Ensure ITPs and MDR's are completed by the supplier fully and correctly

  • Review and coordinate timely responses to fabrication and shop detailing RFIs.


About You: 

Qualifications:

  • Relevant sub-professional technical qualifications

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in procurement and expediting in a projects / engineering environment.

  • Must be experienced in quality control and inspection of heavy equipment, structural steel and general fabrication.

  • Needs to be conversant with relevant codes, with the ability to interpret drawings and specifications.

  • Commercial contract administration experience

  • Excellent communicator with strong consultation and influencing skills.

  • Skills in MS Office Suite

Desired skills, knowledge and experience:

  •  Knowledge of managing budgets/project finance

  • Project reporting

  • Competency in Navisworks including IConstruct experience

  • Familiarity with shop detailing software like Tekla Structures

  • Ability to review 3D models for fabrication and clash detection
