- Lead the discovery phase for existing:
- Power BI reports, datasets, semantic models
- Fabric Lakehouses, Warehouses, Pipelines
- Dataflows Gen1/Gen2
- Assess:
- Source platforms (Synapse, ADF, ADLS, SQL, etc.)
- Data volumes, refresh patterns, dependencies
- Security models and tenant-level configurations
- Identify migration risks, gaps, and optimization opportunities
- Migrate and validate:
- Power BI reports and datasets to Fabric
- Direct Lake–enabled semantic models
- Lakehouse / Warehouse objects
- Handle:
- Dataset refactoring (Import → Direct Lake)
- Data model optimization
- Performance tuning post-migration
- Collaborate closely with:
- Microsoft Support
- Selected Fabric migration vendor/partner
- Target-state Fabric architecture
- Migration runbooks and best practices
- Governance and operational standards
- Azure Synapse
- Azure Data Factory
- ADLS / Azure SQL
- Strong Power BI Experience with Migration involved.
Skills Required
- 6+ years experience in data engineering or BI platform migrations
- Hands-on Microsoft Fabric migration experience
- Strong Power BI experience including migrating reports and datasets
- Experience with Azure Synapse
- Experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF)
- Experience with ADLS (Azure Data Lake Storage) and Azure SQL
- Experience with Dataflows Gen1 / Gen2
- Experience migrating and validating Lakehouse and Warehouse objects
- Experience with Direct Lake-enabled semantic models and dataset refactoring
- Performance tuning and data model optimization post-migration
- Ability to collaborate with Microsoft Support and external implementation partners
- Create/adhere to migration runbooks, governance and operational standards
