What You’ll Do

Are you passionate about designing and developing technology solutions that improve experiences and drive organizational effectiveness? Do you enjoy combining technical expertise with strategic thinking to solve complex business challenges? This expression of interest for a CRM Application Administrator / Developer will support the continued evolution of Algonquin College’s Salesforce platform by delivering innovative solutions that advance institutional priorities and enhance the experience of employees, students, and external partners. 

In this dynamic role, you'll play a senior, hands-on role in the development, administration, and enhancement of the College's Salesforce environment. Reporting to the Manager, Enterprise Solutions Salesforce, you'll collaborate with stakeholders across the College to understand business requirements, analyze processes, and design technology solutions that align with organizational goals.

Acting as a trusted advisor and technical expert, you'll bridge business needs and technology capabilities through solution architecture, platform configuration, custom development, integrations, testing, implementation, and ongoing support. You'll contribute to the successful delivery and continuous improvement of Salesforce Education Cloud and related applications by providing technical leadership, development expertise, business analysis, and operational support.

Working closely with clients and colleagues, you'll help ensure Salesforce solutions are scalable, sustainable, and aligned with institutional priorities while delivering value to the College community. Your work will also support the ongoing evolution of the College's Salesforce Centre of Excellence, governance framework, and Copado-managed DevOps practices.

This includes contributing to technical documentation, promoting development standards and best practices, supporting user enablement, and identifying opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement. Leveraging strong development, analytical, and problem-solving skills, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of the College's Salesforce ecosystem.

Key Areas of Focus

While responsibilities will evolve, future opportunities in this area are expected to contribute across the following areas:

Salesforce Development & Solution Delivery

  • Design, develop, and implement scalable Salesforce solutions that support the College's strategic and operational objectives.

  • Develop and maintain custom Apex code, Lightning Web Components, integrations, Flows, and automation solutions.

  • Participate in the full solution lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, implementation, and support.

  • Contribute to system enhancements and modernization initiatives that improve platform capabilities and user experience.

Business Analysis & Solution Design

  • Partner with stakeholders across academic and administrative departments to understand business needs and opportunities.

  • Facilitate requirements gathering and process analysis activities.

  • Translate business requirements into technical designs and scalable Salesforce solutions.

  • Support the development of future-state business processes and technology-enabled improvements.

Salesforce Administration & Platform Optimization

  • Configure and maintain Salesforce Education Cloud.

  • Support platform administration including security, permissions, data management, reporting, and user management.

  • Evaluate new Salesforce capabilities and recommend enhancements aligned to business priorities.

  • Ensure solutions are designed with usability, sustainability, and maintainability in mind.

Development Standards, Governance & Quality Assurance

  • Contribute to Salesforce governance, solution standards, and architectural best practices.

  • Support solution delivery within the College's Copado-managed DevOps framework and release management processes.

  • Participate in code reviews, testing, quality assurance activities, and deployment planning.

  • Maintain technical documentation, design specifications, and development standards.

Data, Integration & Reporting

  • Support integration initiatives between Salesforce and enterprise applications.

  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and data management processes that support informed decision-making.

  • Promote data quality, integrity, and effective governance practices.

  • Contribute to solutions that enable secure, reliable, and scalable data management.

Technical Advisory & Stakeholder Support

  • Provide technical guidance and expertise to clients, project teams, and College leadership.

  • Support end users and delegated Salesforce administrators through training, knowledge sharing, and advisory services.

  • Research emerging Salesforce capabilities and industry best practices.

  • Contribute to the ongoing evolution and maturity of the College's Salesforce environment.

Who We're Looking For

This role is suited for experienced Salesforce professionals who combine strong development expertise with business analysis, stakeholder engagement, and solution delivery capabilities.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate:

  • Significant experience in Salesforce development, administration, business analysis, or related disciplines.

  • Experience developing and supporting solutions within complex enterprise Salesforce environments.

  • Experience working with Salesforce Education Cloud.

  • Strong knowledge of Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flow automation, integrations, data management, and Salesforce platform capabilities.

  • Demonstrated experience translating business requirements into effective technical solutions.

  • Experience supporting platform optimization, modernization, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and solution design capabilities.

  • The ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a diverse range of stakeholders.

  • Experience working within structured governance, release management, and quality assurance frameworks.

Salesforce Administrator, Platform Developer I, and either Platform Developer II or JavaScript Developer I certifications are highly valued. Additional certifications in Experience Cloud, Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Platform App Builder, Copado, Agentforce, or related disciplines would be considered assets.

A diploma or degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.
