About the Role
As an Exposure Control Advisor, you will play a critical front-line role in managing timely collections and maintaining credit exposure within established tolerances for a diverse portfolio of accounts. This portfolio includes large, complex “White Glove” accounts requiring special handling, as well as standard accounts. You’ll balance customer service expectations with credit guidance and sales perspectives, ensuring cash flow and working capital goals are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Collections Management: Own verbal and written collection efforts for a global customer base, ensuring timely payments and adherence to company policies.
- Portfolio Oversight: Manage complex groups of White Glove, Credit Managed accounts with special handling requirements and account reconciliations.
- Issue Resolution: Investigate overdue payments, document reasons, obtain commitments, and resolve disputes efficiently.
- Customer Interaction: Review invoices for goods/services rendered, address queries, and maintain positive customer relationships.
- Cash Application: Monitor incoming payments and coordinate with Shared Services for timely application and reconciliation.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with Sales, Credit, and other teams to resolve invoicing and receivables issues.
- Risk Identification: Recognize deteriorating customer payment behavior and escalate concerns promptly.
- Training & Support: Provide guidance to junior Advisors and support collection leaders across the portfolio.
- Process Improvement: Balance effective collections with maintaining a positive customer experience and suggest improvements where needed.
Qualifications & Skills
- High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration preferred.
- 5+ years experience in Accounts Receivable, Collections, or Credit Control; experience in Credit, Financial Operations, or Customer Service considered.
- Industry experience in Transportation, Energy, or Commodities preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word essential).
- Strong negotiation, organizational, and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong customer service focus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment and meet operational deadlines.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
- Multi-language skills a plus.
