Mallory Alexander International Logistics, a global third-party logistics company (3PL) headquartered in Memphis, TN has an immediate opening for a Logistics Professional to join our team!
The primary purpose of the Export Coordinator is to research rates, routings, or modes of transport. Maintain awareness of regulations affecting the international movement of cargo. Make arrangements for additional services such as storage and inland transportation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Select shipment routes for both air and ocean shipments, based on nature of goods, transit times, or security needs.
- Arrange for special transport of cargo as necessary or requested by customer.
- Calculate weight, volume, or cost of good to be moved.
- Coordinate container loading, including live load, drop and pick up, and drayage.
- Prepare documentation meeting all requirements for entry into foreign commerce and compliance.
- Arrange bookings with steamship lines via phone, internet, or portals.
- Produce and transmit shipping instructions to steamship lines.
- Communicate with vendors.
- Track and trace shipments in route to ports and with steamship lines, to airports with airlines.
- Maintain accurate record of document release dates relative to cargo shipping dates
- Communicate and follow up with customers regarding complaints, questions, and other special instructions.
- Coordinate destination delivery or storage arrangements with Foreign Agent Network.
- Negotiate with Bank Letter of Credit shipments including documentation.
- Ensure all air cargo shipments adhere to TSA regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or Logistics preferred but not required.
- Cargowise knowledge preferred.
- Min 5 years of experience required in freight forwarding, air export operations, or international logistics. Ocean exports preferred.
- Min 5 years of high level customer service experience.
- Strong communication skills required, including the ability to quickly respond to requests for assistance or information.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload; ability to meet deadlines.
- Understanding of export regulations, compliance requirements (e.g., AES filing, ITN numbers, ECCN classification), and U.S. Customs procedures.
- Familiarity with Incoterms, export declarations, commercial invoices, packing lists, and airway bills (MAWB/HAWB).
- Knowledge of airline bookings, cargo consolidation, and routing processes.
- Knowledge of STA, KSMS, and IATA
The pay rate will be commensurate with education and experience: $26 - $36/per hour.
