Job Description

Key responsibilities:

  • Independently plan, organize, perform and document analytical experiments using state-of-the art equipment (e.g. HPLC, CE, fractionation and other physicochemical methods) in the scope of analytical protein characterization.

  • Take over responsibility for analytical equipment or specialized facilities as an expert; schedule and perform maintenance and qualification of instruments.

  • Work according to appropriate standards for quality, ethics, health, safety, environment protection, and information security as well as lead initiatives to ensure continuous improvement.

  • Documentation of raw data, evaluation and interpretation of results; propose and actively support the design of experiments.

  • Write protocols, scientific reports or lab procedures under minimal supervision.

  • Develop new methods or optimize existing ones and contribute to the implementation of new technologies.

  • Conduct information and literature searches and facilitate knowledge exchange.

  • Interact and collaborate with other groups and sites according to project and method requirements.

  • Participate in function-specific sub-teams and fulfill assigned project tasks as well as responsibilities under supervision.

Essential requirements:

  • Degree in relevant area (e.g. Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or equivalent), and 2+ years of job experience in a relevant area. 

  • A personality with a can-do mentality and the ability to adapt to changes.

  • Excellent knowledge of analytical approaches and practical experience in handling complex analytical equipment for biopharmaceuticals, e.g. HPLC experience.

  • Enjoy hands-on working with analytical equipment.

  • Full professional proficiency in spoken and written English.

  • Proficient with laboratory and/or technical equipment.

  • Proficient in software and computer tools, employing a digital working style.

  • Good documentation and basic scientific/technical writing skills.

Desirable requirements:

  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written German.

  • Experience in mass spectrometric analysis approaches for proteins, peptides, glycans.

In addition to a market-competitive base salary, we offer an attractive incentive program, a modern company pension scheme, childcare facilities, learning and development opportunities as well as worldwide career possibilities within the Novartis group. In accordance with Austrian law, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary as stated in the collective bargaining agreement. For this position the minimum salary is € 59.781,96€ a year (on a full-time basis). The actual salary will be significantly higher, as we strive to maintain a competitive position in the market and consider your previous experience, qualifications and individual competencies.
