Leidos is seeking a Database Administrator to support the Sponsor's Authentication Programs as well as Authorization, and Digital Policy Management. The role focuses on implementing an active-active Oracle database solution across AWS regions to enhance availability and resiliency.
Primary responsibilities:
Overall responsibilities include performing all necessary procedures for several databases across environments. Specific development, test, and production responsibilities will include:
- Install and maintain database software hosted on AWS Relational Database Service (RDS) or directly on EC2 instances
- Providing team with database schema designs adhering to relational database and cloud best practices for active-active deployments in the cloud
- Providing corporate applications with DBA consultation and technical support
- Evaluate and update dataset designs for improved performance
- Maintain database documents, SOP, patch release history, confluence pages and other records as needed
- Support database security hardening
- Address and troubleshoot technical problems
- Perform routine database patching and upgrades
Required Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
- Required BS degree and 12+ years of prior relevant experience. Additional experience in lieu of degree.
- Knowledgeable in delivering enterprise database solutions in the AWS cloud
- Prior experience reading and developing solutions to customer requirements
- Experience with database technologies, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and/or Aurora
- Knowledgeable of and ability to work with developers to support the eventual consistency model
- Ability to identify vulnerabilities from scans and propose and implement solution to resolve vulnerabilities
- Experience in implementing and managing backups
- Knowledge of consistency, availability, and partition tolerance for making informed decisions about the database architecture and its behavior during a network partition
Desired qualifications:
- AWS certifications
- Oracle certifications
- Experience with Route 53, private links and global traffic control in AWS
- Knowledge of AWS managed database service offerings
- Knowledge of AWS VPC peering, Transit Gateway, and other services and techniques to ensure low-latency and secure communications for data replication
- Database monitoring and alerting
- Experience working with and collaborating with DevOps teams to integrate database updates into the CI/CD process
