Job Summary:
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with livestock and operating farm machinery. This role involves moving and caring for animals, maintaining and building infrastructure, and supporting the health management of our livestock. You must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic, good communication skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
Move and manage livestock safely and efficiently.
Build and repair animal pens, fences, and other farm infrastructure.
Operate and maintain skid loaders, tractors, and other heavy farm equipment.
Monitor animal health and assist in scheduling veterinary appointments as needed.
Perform general farm duties including feeding, watering, cleaning, and record-keeping.
Assist with seasonal tasks such as haying, calving/lambing/farrowing, and more.
Follow safety and animal welfare protocols at all times.
Qualifications:
Minimum 1 years of farmhand experience, preferably with livestock.
Proficient in operating skid loaders and tractors.
Solid understanding of livestock behavior and basic health care.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in all weather conditions.
Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Requirements
Previous experience in farming or agriculture is preferred but not mandatory; a willingness to learn is essential.
Basic math skills for measuring and calculating quantities related to planting and harvesting.
Knowledge of animal husbandry practices is a plus, with an emphasis on caring for various types of livestock.
Familiarity with greenhouse operations and growing techniques is beneficial.
Ability to operate hand tools safely and efficiently; forklift certification is a plus.
Strong work ethic with the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Good communication skills for effective teamwork and coordination on the farm.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with scheduling or coordinating veterinary care.
Mechanical aptitude for equipment repair and maintenance.
Experience with a variety of livestock species.
