Job Overview:
The Expeditor applies its conceptual knowledge of expediting and, with a moderate level of guidance and direction from colleagues and leadership, is responsible for solving a range of straightforward expediting problems. They will be responsible for analyzing possible solutions using standard procedures and building knowledge of the company, processes, and customers. The Expeditor understands key business drivers and applies this knowledge to solve problems in straightforward situations by analyzing possible solutions using technical experience, judgment, and precedents.
ResponsibilitiesKey Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Work on assigned projects and fully understand the project’s expediting strategy
- Execute expediting frequency based on the Expediting Level assigned to the Purchase Order
- Liaise with suppliers and other functions to facilitate the status of project goods and materials
- Drive accurate and timely project status reporting process and weekly expediting reports
- Drive issue resolution with suppliers and other functional stakeholders
- Review Purchase Order delivery requirements to assure project requirements are met
- Identify and understand levels of required expediting and actions workload to optimize material deliveries according to project schedule requirements and shop demands
- Complete consistent and timely updates in the Company system and distribute expediting reports to the Project Team and Suppliers to provide insight into the progress of the package and to flag any concerns or issues for discussion
- Ensure the Supplier’s timely delivery of all items on Purchase Orders to maintain the Project schedule
- Work with procurement management to identify performance gaps and delays, including engineering drawing delays, fabrication problems, delivery delays, sub-supplier management, and people resources
- Ensure expediting issues are being coordinated between the other departments, offices, fabrication, and construction teams to meet project requirements and deadlines
- Notify and collaborates with Logistics on material movements that fall within McDermott’s responsibility
- Maintain and promote a focus on McDermott’s end-product, whether procurement, engineering, fabrication, or construction related
- Ensure effective communications among procurement disciplines, clients, project teams, and suppliers
- Understand and consistently use Expediting procedures as established in company policies
- Perform other Expediting tasks as assigned
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Supply Chain Management (or a relevant discipline) or HSD/GED/IGCSE with 3 years of relevant experience
- 3-6 years of relevant experience
- Demonstrates knowledge of the expediting process as related to procurement
- Experience expediting supplier documentation, piping bulks, electrical bulks, instrumentation bulks, as well as instrumentation such as regulators, gauges, and PSVs
- Experience expediting mechanical equipment is a plus
- Ability to effectively communicate with procurement personnel and non-procurement personnel
- Ability to work well with others
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access)
- Knowledge of Materials Management systems for procurement and logistics
- Understanding of Expediting systems used to support the process of project execution
- Understanding of the Unifi Expediting process
- Ability to apply knowledge to work activities
- Understanding of the overall Material Management lifecycle
