JOB SUMMARY:

Lead and direct the team to reach production requirements and ensure that the execution of work is consistent with the plant's goals. Lead will be a back-up to the Production Supervisor for assigned areas and personnel. This position will be considered as the back up to the Production Supervisor.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate truck closing plan for the day including the distribution of “Hot List” to all leadership.
  • Remain in direct contact with Customer Care on rush orders and any communication on orders that may have missed shipment.
  • Keep leadership informed of the status of truck closing for the day and any areas requiring additional support.
  • Must be familiar with OTCS goals for the plant and understanding and miss to target, working with the team to be on target.
  • Direct employees in the work area to ensure safety, quality and production standards are met.
  • Provide positive leadership and work direction to assigned group of employees.
  • Guide, train, and coordinate department activities.
  • Coach and counsel employees as necessary.
  • Assist with employee performance evaluations.
  • Management and communication of department vacation calendars.
  • Participate in safety walks, audits, and perform all duties in a safe manner.
  • Assist department leads with conducting natural work team meetings as necessary.
  • Responsible for leading 5S activities and audits.
  • Train employees on job duties and tasks.
  • Complete any necessary documentation, computer entry and paperwork.
  • Gathering and entry to area metrics.
  • Provide a positive role model to the team members.
  • Promote and conduct natural work team meetings in a positive and effective manner.
  • Ensure that all metrics are updated, and notes are kept of open ideas.
  • Maintain production and quality standards.
  • Follow all safety rules and work instructions.
  • Report and correct any safety issues or conditions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Ability to read a tape measure and use it effectively.
  • Ability to read the move ticket and understand ALL of its contents.
  • Must have good computer skills and be willing to learn to new applications.
  • Team direction in an effective manner, foster good employee relations.
  • Positive leadership and communication skills and the ability to work within a team,
  • Must have the ability to communicate with all levels of management in a professional manner.
  • A strong understanding of the production processes, machines, operations, and flow.
  • Must be well organized.
  • Self-starter who can work with very little direct supervision and appropriately handle confidential information.
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook). Skills to create charts and manipulate data in Excel and Word.
  • Identify any specialized equipment used in this job and indicate the daily percent of time spent on each.
  • Must have strong analytical, problem solving, delegation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Adaptable to change and have the ability/desire to make a difference.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; maintain the technical and managerial skills required to effectively administer the production process.
