- Tool-Setter
• Set-up and repair cutting tools for production, using process sheets, set-up sheets and tooling drawings
• Perform cutting tool maintenance and simple repair
• Work closely with Engineering on tooling trials and tracking of results
• Update inventory kept in tool-crib
• Continuously improve all areas of operation: safety, quality and housekeeping – actively participate in 5S program
• Continuously monitor machine tool usage
• Inventory control of tooling and misc. items utilizing a computer system
• Maintain inventory control strategies to maximize inventory efficiencies and costs (i.e. min, max, reorder points)
• Distribution of material in the central store
• Data entry and generating basic report - Tool Crib
- • Responsible for maintaining the necessary inventory levels of manufacturing supplies and tools to support production needs (i.e. distribution of materials in the crib)
• Responsible for parts storage integrity. Maintain records of withdrawals and returns of tooling; responsible for maintaining stock levels (replenishment, min/max).
• Responsible for receiving parts (receiving process, paper audit). Responsible for unpacking, quantity and condition inspection. Ensure that all tools and equipment are in good working condition and meet calibration specifications. Maintain the inventory control system (IFS) – charging of parts to equipment/proper account #/work order
• Responsible for IFS cycle counts and inventory audits.
• Assist in planning and achieving cost reduction goals.
• Responsible for organization and cleanliness of crib area; define stock locations of all items
• Share responsibility with Maintenance for part location within storage area, pre-kitting parts staging and staging area; and repairable parts area
- Completion of secondary school or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- • Previous experience in a tool crib environment is an asset.
• Knowledge of machining components is an asset
• Able to locate data in a variety of forms such as invoices, shipping receipts, special order request forms and new product information sheets.
• Must be well organized and have the ability to deal with frequent interruptions; be flexible and adaptable to ever-changing priorities.
• Must possess solid knowledge of computer applications and inventory programs i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, IFS, AS400, IFS, etc. for tracking inventory, and planning ordering schedules.
• Must possess the ability to work independently, but also work in teams to ensure effective forecasting, product distribution and marketing. Collaborate with buyer to make forecasts and build inventories that are compatible with Linamar’s sales strategies and budgets.
• Possess excellent communication skills (oral and written form) to interact with suppliers to confirm details, such as purchase order numbers. Talk to customers to get pickup and delivery instructions.
• Moves equipment weighing up to 40 pounds, as required.
