Position Summary Moorings Park is seeking a dedicated and talented on-call Exercise Specialist to join our team. The Exercise Specialist focuses on the seven dimensions of wellness (physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, vocational, and environmental) through a unified wellness initiative.
Key Contributions
- Provides personal training and group fitness to older adults of all levels of care and special populations.
- Creates ongoing publicity for health promotion and upcoming wellness events.
- Encourages social interaction, promotes mental stimulation through educational programs, and supports self-esteem all leading towards self-efficacy and full engagement in life.
- Responsible for the upkeep of the fitness centers and equipment.
- Creates displays, flyers, newsletters, posts notice, arranges set-up, purchases awards and assists in decorations for wellness events
- Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language required.
- During emergencies or natural disasters, may be required to remain on duty for the duration of the event.
- Minimum BS in Exercise Science or related field with certification from ACSM, NSCA, NASM, or ACE.
- Previous experience as a personal trainer, instructor and/or assistant to a fitness or wellness director in settings such as athletic clubs, hospital cardiac rehabs or worksite wellness centers.
- Previous experience working in a life plan community preferred.
- Have and maintain an active CPR certification.
Skills Required
- Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science or a related field
- Certification from ACSM, NSCA, NASM, or ACE
- Previous experience as a personal trainer, instructor, or fitness/wellness director assistant
- Previous experience working in a life plan community
- Active CPR certification
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills
