ABC 17 News is seeking an individual who wants to advance their career while contributing to the station’s news growth.  The company is looking for an Executive Producer.  The right candidate will be excited to join a talented team of journalists who remain at the forefront of this constantly changing field.


JOB DESCRIPTION: The Executive Producer’s duties will include supervising the daily night-side operations of a strategy-driven newsroom.  This includes approving news rundowns, overseeing reporters, managing resources and personnel, supporting the station’s digital platforms, and working on other projects as assigned.  The successful candidate will be expected to function in a news department that emphasizes source cultivation, enterprise storytelling, and breaking news.  The employee must be well-versed in working across all our content platforms, including web, mobile, and social media.


QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will collaborate with anchors, reporters, producers, assignment editors, photographers, and other team members to ensure that newscasts are well-produced, teases are effective, and content aligns with the station's brand. He or she will review scripts for accuracy, fairness, and ethical journalism.

He or she should have good organizational skills and superior news judgment with an aggressive approach to big breaking news.  He or she will need to be innovative and a strategic thinker.  The candidate must work well under pressure, foster cooperation in a stressful setting, and meet strict deadlines.

 

HOURS/SCHEDULE:  This is a full-time position, scheduled Monday through Friday from 2:00 pm – 11:00 pm with flexibility required by the employee.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: A college degree in journalism, communication, or a related field is desired.  Three to five years of experience in television news management, producing, or a similar role is preferred.  Working with Ross CMS products and Adobe editing products is a plus.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The position will require the operation of a company vehicle or a personal vehicle for business use.  Candidate must pass a drug test, background check, and MVR check.
