- Creates a collaborative culture focused on producing high quality local content that fits each show’s mission.
- Oversees daily content, show priorities and staffing.
- Sets clear expectations for the team and address challenges to meet both short- and long-term goals.
- Develops and executes a content calendar for both shows, creating opportunities for sales clients to be integrated into the programming.
- Works collaboratively with news, sales, promotions and operations to execute large scale promotions often linked station clients.
- Routinely exercises independent judgment in carrying out job functions. Acts as point person and decision maker for both shows.
- Ensures that their team maximizes content on all platforms, including streaming and social media.
- Curates and produces content and guests that are intentional to each show’s mission but also live and relevant.
- Directly manage local programming staff of reporters, producers, and photographers. Looks to resolve personnel related matters, manage performance and participates in employment decisions.
- Works cooperatively and collaboratively with other departments and HBI TV stations. Assists in developing solutions as they arise.
- Builds effective relationships. Acts in a professional manner.
- Generally, works during regular business hours however workday may extend to evenings and weekends.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
- BA, BS or equivalent experience in Journalism, Communication, or similar area is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience managing a team
- Minimum of 3 years' experience working in TV production
- Ability to think strategically and work within a budget
- Deep understanding of content planning and editorial strategies
- Ability to lead goal/objective setting, resource planning and forecasting
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task
- Proven team leadership capabilities and strong interpersonal skills.
- Must have a passion for local programming and the Twin Cities community.
- Must have a valid drivers' license and safe driving history as determined by the Company. Driving record will be checked.

- Must be able to work in an area that is often noisy and has many distractions.
- Requires the ability to think quickly, critically, strategically and tactically and to articulate information in clear, concise manner to others.
- Ability to communicate in English.
- Must have manual dexterity to operate computer keyboard and telephones.
- Must be able to move quickly at times.
- Work under tight deadlines and in high-pressure situations.
- Ability to drive on Company business.
