As Executive Director of Solution & AI Engineering, you will lead the strategic vision, development and execution of our technology roadmap. You will drive innovation, manage cross-functional teams, and ensure the delivery of high-quality products that exceed consumer expectations.
As a key strategic leader, you will partner deeply with stakeholders across CVS Health to understand consumers, current product landscape, operational needs, and business goals — developing long-term visions, technical strategies, and roadmaps that deliver value. Primary Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Define and drive the long-term technical vision and roadmap for solution engineering and AI engineering, aligned with overall business strategy
- Serve as a key member of the technology leadership team, advising executives and the board on AI strategy, architecture standards, and emerging technology opportunities
- Translate business objectives into scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions
Team Building & People Management
- Build, lead, and mentor a multidisciplinary organization of solution engineers, AI engineers, and engineering managers
- Establish career development frameworks, hiring plans, and performance management practices to attract and retain top technical talent
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning
Solution Engineering
- Own standards, governance, and design review processes across the organization
- Ensure solutions are designed for scalability, security, resilience, and cost-efficiency
- Evaluate and select technology platforms, tools, and vendors in partnership with engineering and procurement teams
- Own delivery of engineering frameworks & products supporting multiple lines of business
AI Engineering
- Direct the design, development, and deployment of AI solutions, including generative AI
- Establish best practices for responsible AI development, including model governance, data privacy, and ethical AI use
- Partner with product, and business teams to identify and prioritize high-value AI use cases
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Delivery
- Partner with product management, engineering, and business stakeholders to ensure solution engineering and AI initiatives deliver measurable business value
- Manage budgets, vendor relationships, and resource allocation across the portfolio of solution engineering and AI programs
- Present technical strategy and progress updates to executive leadership
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of progressive experience in technology roles, including significant experience in solution architecture and/or AI/ML engineering
- 8+ years in people leadership roles, managing managers and building multidisciplinary technical teams
- Demonstrated experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale architecture (cloud, microservices, distributed systems, integration patterns)
- Familiarity with AI/ML systems, including modern generative AI and LLM-based architectures
- Track record of translating business strategy into technical roadmaps and executing at scale
- Strong executive presence with experience presenting to senior leadership and/or boards
- Experience leading large-scale, globally distributed teams, and ensuring the health and stability of production operations.
- Technical expertise in triaging, understanding, and solving complex challenges across various technology stacks, enterprise integrations, and vendor platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to cloud-native architectures (AWS, Azure, or GCP) in an enterprise environment.
- Background working with software development vendors as delivery partners — including SOW management, onboarding, and performance accountability.

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$175,100.00 - $334,750.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
