Job Description:
Wells Fargo Corporate & Investment Banking delivers a comprehensive suite of capital markets, banking, and financial products and services. Markets provides solutions to clients with the means to manage their exposure through various derivatives, lending and cash products across Structured Products Group, Macro, Equities, Municipal Products Group, Credit Sales & Trading.
About this role:
The Executive Director will partner with Public Finance bankers to support coverage of issuer clients, including state and local governments, transportation agencies, utilities, affordable housing, and higher education institutions. Serve as a primary advisor on credit positioning, helping clients understand rating agency perspectives and optimize credit outcomes. Provide strategic input on financing structures, credit solutions, and key topics that may impact issuer clients. Serve as a dedicated resource on key credit trends and topics, including new rating agency criteria, unique financing opportunities, and emerging opportunities within the municipal market. Assist issuers in creating new credits and develop strategies to market innovative or unique credits in the primary market. Develop a network of connections with both issuers and investors to assist in new issue marketing.
Job Expectations:
  • Act as a senior resource across Public Finance for credit strategy development and best practices
  • Lead rating agency strategy and engagement, including assisting in optimizing credit outcomes
  • Serve as member of municipal transaction governance forum, including review and signoff on proposed transactions
  • Advise bankers and investor clients on key credit trends and opportunities
  • Periodically publish "think-pieces" on unique or interesting topics that may impact various sectors within the municipal market
  • Oversee development of credit narratives and positioning for issuer clients in maximizing rating outcomes and navigating unique credit situations
  • Advise bankers and clients on anticipated rating actions, sensitivities, and potential rating outcomes
  • Coordinate with public finance, capital markets, and sales & trading teams to align credit views and oversee new-issue marketing strategies
  • Mentor junior team members, including analysts and associates focused on municipal credit
  • Contribute to broader initiatives to expand the firm's credit platform and product capabilities (e.g., derivatives, structured solutions)
  • Support development of offering materials, investor presentations, and disclosure related to credit fundamentals
  • Provide real-time credit input during live transactions and marketing processes
  • Assist in drafting of responses for Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and participate in meetings with issuer clients across all sectors and regions
Required Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of municipal credit experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, or education
Desired Qualifications:
  • Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting OR 8+ years experience in the municipal credit sector
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Excellent credit, analytical, communication and presentation skills.
  • An energetic self-starter who is detail oriented with strong credit skills and enjoys working in a team environment; able to work with little direct supervision and thrives in a high energy environment.
  • Strong knowledge of municipal credit fundamentals and emerging topics within the municipal market
Job Expectations:
  • Registration for FINRA 52, 63, & 79 must be completed within 90 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted.
  • This position is subject to FINRA background screening requirements. Candidates must successfully complete and pass a background check prior to hire. In accordance with FINRA rules, individuals who are subject to statutory disqualification are not eligible to be associated with a FINRA-registered broker-dealer. Successful candidates must also meet and comply with ongoing regulatory obligations, which include periodic screening and mandatory reporting of certain incidents.
  • Specific compliance policies may apply regarding outside activities or personal investing; affected employees will be expected to provide information to the Wells Fargo Personal Account Dealing Team and abide by applicable policy requirements if hired. Pay Range:
New York -Pay Range: $275,000-$275,000

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
$215,000.00 - $355,000.00
