JOB PURPOSE
The purpose of this role is to provide strategic
direction and leadership to the
post-clearing inspection function to ensure effective implementation of customs
and excise laws.
KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES
Establish
and enforce procedures for post-clearing inspections to ensure compliance with
customs and excise laws and regulations
Develops
and Implements measures to safeguard revenue by detecting and addressing
instances of under-declaration, misclassification, and undervaluation of
imported goods
Engages
with importers, exporters, customs brokers, and other stakeholders to promote
understanding of post-clearing inspection procedures and compliance
requirements by:
Continuously
review and enhance post-clearing inspection processes and procedures to improve
efficiency, effectiveness, and accuracy
Implements
measures to effectively manage the Excisable goods and management of the Fuel
testing unit
Effective
management of the K-9 unit for effective control and prevention of contraband
entering and exiting the country.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
A Master’s Degree in either International Trade,
Accounting, Economics, Customs, Law, or related fields. A professional
certification in Customs, Law Enforcement, or a related area will be an added
advantage.
At least 10 years relevant work experience in customs
operations, with a significant focus on post-clearing inspections or compliance
enforcement, with a minimum of 5 years in a management capacity.
