The North American Institutional Sales Team is responsible for driving growth across the MSIM suite of investment capabilities through the development of new relationships, the enhancement of existing relationships, and the application of a holistic and partnership-oriented approach to provide a best-in- client experience.
Expanding our institutional client coverage on the east coast, the Executive Director will focus on driving fundraising results across the MSIM’s platform - equities, fixed income, private credit, private equity, private real assets, and hedge funds. Joining a collaborative team, this individual will be responsible for cultivating and managing relationships with institutional clients. The team works in close partnership with consultant relations and investment teams to deliver the full breadth of MSIM’s investment ideas and solutions to clients.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with institutional asset owners across the East Coast region of the United States, across all client segmentations – public pensions, corporate pensions, insurance, endowments, foundations, and healthcare systems.
- Cultivate strong partnerships across key internal stakeholder groups, including Consultant Relations, Product Specialists, Marketing and Portfolio Management, to support strategy execution and fund marketing initiatives
- Maintain detailed knowledge of investment strategies across public and private markets to effectively position solutions to clients.
- Understand clients' investment objectives and provide tailored solutions to meet their needs.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior professionals and support the continued development of the organization’s talent base.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of experience developing new client relationships at an asset management platform, with exposure to private markets asset classes.
- History of helping successfully build and maintain client relationships with sophisticated asset owners.
- Strong understanding of institutional sales processes, including best practices working with consultant coverage and investment teams.
- Understanding of institutional segments such as corporate defined benefit, public pension systems, insurance, endowments, foundations, and healthcare systems
- Investment and markets acumen with the ability to synthesize, distill, and articulate investment strategies in a straightforward manner.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational skills.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $175,000 and $300,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
