As an Executive Director in Global Government Relations, you will develop and drive Asia Pacific government relations strategies that advance business priorities and support responsible growth. You will partner closely with internal stakeholders across regulatory affairs, sustainability, philanthropy, and technology policy to deliver coordinated advocacy and risk guidance. You will be based in Hong Kong and will report to the regional Head of Government Relations and Corporate Responsibility.
Job responsibilities
- Develop and execute regional strategies on emerging policy and geopolitical issues relevant to the firm and its clients
- Lead monitoring, analysis, and reporting of political, regulatory, and legislative developments across Asia Pacific
- Advise senior leaders on geopolitical and regulatory risk, scenario implications, and engagement opportunities
- Communicate the firm’s perspectives through briefings, roundtables, speaking engagements, and written materials
- Build and sustain senior-level relationships with governments, regulators, and the diplomatic community
- Engage effectively with multilateral organizations, trade associations, think tanks, and international policy fora
- Coordinate internally to align regional advocacy positions and ensure consistent external messaging
- Manage relationships with external consultants and advisory firms to deliver clear outcomes and value
- Represent the Global Government Relations function in cross-firm forums and regional leadership discussions
- Identify and plan opportunities to support senior leader engagement during international travel
- Travel regionally and internationally as needed to support strategic priorities
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor’s degree
- 15 years of professional experience in government, public policy, government relations, trade associations, diplomacy, or external-facing roles within multinational organizations (including financial services)
- Demonstrated Asia Pacific market experience, with an understanding of policy-making processes and government relations practices across multiple jurisdictions
- Working knowledge of the Washington, DC political environment and policy-making process
- Proven ability to build and maintain senior stakeholder relationships across the public and private sectors
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing diverse, cross-cultural teams
- Experience setting strategy, defining priorities, and executing multi-workstream plans with measurable outcomes
- Strong geopolitical and regulatory analytical skills, sound judgment, and ability to operate effectively in ambiguity
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including executive-ready briefing capability
- Ability to represent the firm externally with professionalism, discretion, and high integrity
- Willingness and ability to travel regionally and internationally
