The Role
About Madrigal:
Madrigal is a biopharmaceutical company pursuing novel therapeutics for non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), also known as metabolic dysfunction associated steatohepatitis (MASH). Our first therapy, Rezdiffra (resmetirom), was granted accelerated approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of adults with NASH with moderate to advanced liver fibrosis (consistent with stages F2 to F3 fibrosis) and is being studied in a Phase 3 trial for the treatment of NASH with compensated cirrhosis.
Role Overview: 
Executive Director, Global Market Access
The Executive Director, Global Market Access, is a pivotal leader at Madrigal, overseeing global pricing for Resmetirom. This role is responsible for crafting and executing integrated global market access strategies that optimize pricing, recommendations, and payer acceptance for Madrigal’s product offering across Europe. Reporting to the VP of Market Access, the Executive Director collaborates with the Regional Market Access Lead(s) and across functions, ensuring alignment with business priorities and the effective positioning of Madrigal products.  This is a remote position.
Position Responsibilities: 
1. Develop and Drive Market Access Strategies
  • Design and implement integrated global market access and payer strategies and approval processes with a deep understanding of payer dynamics and market access stakeholders, in collaboration with Regional Market Access Team(s).
  • Anticipate payer objections and develop proactive solutions to overcome challenges.
  • Align strategies with lifecycle management to optimize pricing, access, and funding for Madrigal products.

2. Collaborate with HEOR 

  • Support the development of evidence generation plans tailored to the needs of key markets and the Brand Strategy.
  • Participate in the health economic and value assessment analyses to ensure data-driven decision-making and effective payer engagement.
  • Foster innovation by adopting cutting-edge methodologies, including AI and advanced data sourcing strategies.

3. Strategic Decision-Making

  • Serve as a critical adviser and business process owner for pricing, recommendations, and tenders, ensuring alignment with market access perspectives.
  • Evaluate and mitigate corporate risk related to market access by monitoring environmental trends and emerging challenges.

4. Drive Early Market Access Potential

  • Inform internal decision-making on portfolio prioritization, Target Product Profiles, and Target Value Propositions.
  • Provide expert insights into recommendations, pricing, and funding criteria used by payers in critical markets.

5. Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Build strong cross-functional relationships with Marketing, Public Affairs, Communications, Medical Affairs, Regional Leads, and Country GMs.
  • Ensure seamless rollout and training on global strategies, tools, and tactics across Regional and Country teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in healthcare or business preferred.
  • 12-15 years of experience in biopharma with greater than 5 years in Global Market Access, experience directly in European markets preferred.
  • Proven ability to identify trends impacting business and develop strategies for sustainable success.
  • Experience in creating strategies for timely, quality, and affordable patient access.
  • Key competencies: business and financial acumen, negotiation skills, strategic and analytical skills, decision-making, collaboration and communication.
  • Ability to influence and interface internally and externally at senior levels.
  • Experience navigating internal processes and mobilizing stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership in meeting or exceeding performance targets; ability to develop and retain talent, build teams, and coach effectively.
  • Senior-level leadership experience in developing, motivating, and inspiring teams.
  • Experience in Alliance or Co-Promotion arrangements.
  • Domestic and International travel anticipated to be up to 50% between field, Madrigal HQ, and other meetings as appropriate.

Compensation:
Base salary is determined by several factors that include, but are not limited to, a successful candidate's qualifications, skills, education, experience, business needs, and market demands. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits, which include flexible paid time off (PTO), medical, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance.
