Assists the VP of Global Credit Services in establishing sound credit risk policies, procedures, and the company’s risk appetite framework. Aligns the credit risk framework with industry best practices as well as fundamental compliance with governance throughout the globe.
Responsible for strategic execution of underwriting new accounts, ongoing credit risk management processes, and ensuring appropriate and timely identification, measurement, monitoring and reporting of credit risk while having appropriate policies and practices in place to strategically operate within risk appetite.
Key responsibilities include: leading a team of credit analysts of varying skillsets, diversity, and background, implementing global credit policy and governance frameworks, strategic credit analytics and reporting, and managing the operations of key credit support functions (underwriting, risk management and risk monitoring).
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and recommends credit objectives, policies, and procedures. Provides strategic direction and guidance to leaders engaged in credit risk management, to include direct supervision of staff. Manages and directs the credit portfolio to ensure alignment with strategic direction of enterprise, overseeing the credit portfolio.
- Directs and provides oversight of the interpretation of credit analysis and reporting from each line of business to executive management and regulatory agencies. Follows current and long-term strategic direction for the Credit Risk function throughout the enterprise. Actively monitors or reviews credit quality within the portfolio, risk ratings, financial statements of customers, and acts appropriately to minimize losses.
- Ongoing training and mentoring of direct reports of varying levels and skillsets.
- Assumes responsibility and is accountable for adherence to policies and procedures. Directs the development or revisions of policies, procedures, and agreements to ensure compliance with audit and regulatory processes.
- Actively seeks opportunities to implement risk controls to the existing processes of the Global Credit Services department, as well as the company as a whole.
- Resolves credit policy issues identified internally or externally by coordinating and communicating due diligence efforts with line-of-business leaders.
- Collaborates daily with the Global Collections Team, the Global Payments Team, as well as with Sales Leaders to assist in Accounts Receivable/Collections balances. Implement strategic collections strategies to assist in balance reductions.
- Oversee credit underwriting decisions, risk management decisions, new order release requests for existing customers globally, and repayment plans for past due accounts.
Basic Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in underwriting and risk management
- Proven track record of senior leadership experience in building and leading risk and credit teams.
- Director level experience in risk management for the payment industry, minimum of 5 years.
- Well versed in understanding various laws, regulations, and governance requirements (FCRA, KYC, AML, etc.).
- Ability to analyze financial statements of customers and succinctly summarize the risks, mitigations, and probability of a bankruptcy.
- Ability to strategize on collections of past due accounts, working knowledge of bankruptcy laws and bankruptcy risk, as well as bankruptcy risk management strategies that help reduce losses.
Skills:
- Excellent leadership, communication and presentation abilities
- High proficiency in risk management tools and credit policies
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving expertise
- D&B, Credit Risk Monitor, understanding of aging receivables balances and collections practices
- Strong Excel Spreadsheet skills are required for this position
Position is based in Irving, Texas and is not eligible for remote work.
