Wells Fargo is seeking an Executive Director responsible for the strategic oversight and operational management of export credit agency (ECA) insurance policies and guarantees supporting the Commercial Banking (CB) and Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) businesses in Wells Fargo. The role is within the Supply Chain Finance (SCF) business in Commercial Banking. This role ensures optimal credit capacity and risk mitigation across ECA back loans by managing broker & ECA relationships, initiating and negotiating policy structures, and day-to-day administration. The position collaborates closely with SCF leadership, CIB and CB relationship managers, underwriters, capital markets and external brokers and ECAs to align risk mitigation solutions with client needs and portfolio objectives.
In this role, key responsibilities include:
- Strategic Management:
- Develop and execute the overall strategy for export credit agency supported transactions within Wells Fargo.
- Align structures with WF product offerings, credit appetite, and client risk profiles.
- Lead annual policy reviews and renewal processes in coordination with brokers and insurers.
- Transactional Oversight and Support:
- Arrange (for WF agented transactions) and/or review (for WF participation transactions) the proposed ECA documentation providing indemnity support to a transaction and assessing acceptability of such policy, taking note of normal and customary terms associated with the proposed transaction.
- Assess the underlying transaction documentation for alignment of ECA relevant terms and conditions.
- Lead engagement with the Legal Department for retention of outside counsel with regard to ECA-related documentation review and assessment.
- Advise the booking line of business of key terms and requirements of the ECA policy.
- Conduct any policy mandated monitoring associated with the transaction.
- Lead the claims management process with the ECA (as applicable)
- Broker and ECA Relationships:
- Serve as primary liaison with export credit agencies and brokers.
- Negotiate policy terms, pricing, and coverage enhancements.
- Monitor market trends and ECA appetite to inform relevant client and product strategy.
- Risk and Credit Support:
- Collaborate with relationship management and underwriting teams to integrate ECA assessments into credit decisions and client offerings.
- Support client onboarding and program expansion through ECA-backed credit capacity.
- Provide guidance on policy applicability and risk mitigation strategies.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Partner with Wells Fargo business leadership, legal, compliance, third party supplier and finance teams to ensure policy alignment with internal standards.
- Educate internal stakeholders on export credit agency capabilities and limitations.
- Experience in secured or specialized lending relationship management or portfolio management, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Relevant experience in export credit agency, supply chain finance, or commercial banking.
- Deep understanding of export credit agency markets, structures, and related products with demonstrated experience leading export credit agency backed transactions from a product management perspective.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and relationship management skills.
- Experience working with ECAs, brokers, underwriters, and credit teams.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance frameworks related to export credit agency structures.
- Experience with ECA programs across a wide range of products and lending structures.
- Proficiency in policy management systems and data analytics tools.
- The role is based in the London office under a hybrid working arrangement (minimum 3 days in office).
