Role Summary:
The Executive Director of Business Capabilities plays a pivotal role in identifying, prioritizing, resourcing, and overseeing the execution of a portfolio of enterprise projects to enable Dyne’s core business objectives. This role is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to enhance our business capabilities and drive organizational growth and success. The person in this role has exceptional leadership and communication skills as they guide the organization through capability building during the Commercialization process. The Executive Director of Business Capability Building is a key collaborator and a trusted resource across the business focused on outcomes and process excellence.
This role is based in Waltham, MA without the possibility of being a remote role.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for building and strengthening our business capabilities to support our overall business objectives
- Drive the development and implementation of processes and systems to support our business capabilities and ensure operational efficiency
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of our business capabilities initiatives and make recommendations for improvement
- Lead the business capability building process, programs, and resources
- Work with business stakeholders to identify the business capabilities necessary to achieve key business goals
- Lead the prioritization of business capabilities with key business stakeholders to develop a prioritized roadmap to achieve business goals
- Oversee the execution of project management and measurement of business capability builds throughout the life cycle and post-delivery, working with key business stakeholders including Functional Heads, IT, Finance, and Quality Assurance, as appropriate
- Manage vendors who participate in the build process to ensure quality value and outcome
- Develop a capability scorecard to assist in the prioritization process
- Streamline the existing capabilities process to optimize levels of effort
- Establish project management standards working with the IT and program management team to ensure quality and consistency of approach
- Lead capability building review meetings with key stakeholders to communicate progress, identify potential risks, and solve issues
- Manage budgets, timelines, and resources according to plan
- Stay current on industry trends and best practices related to business capabilities and capability building
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support business growth and success
Education and Skills Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in business or technology—MBA preferred
- 5+ years of experience in business capabilities or capability building, preferably in the biotech industry
- 8+ years of demonstrated leadership experience, managing teams directly and indirectly of varying sizes
- 8+ years of project and portfolio management experience
- 10+ years of biotech/pharmaceutical experience
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful business capabilities strategies
- Direct experience leading a similar function in a high growth company in the life sciences industry
- Experience overseeing a portfolio of technical and enterprise projects during the commercialization process
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Outstanding vendor management skills
