The Opportunity
The Business Operations Specialist will act as a strategic partner to our CEO and wider Executive Leadership Team. This role sits at the heart of the business — providing not just administrative excellence, but operational rhythm, clear communication, and strategic foresight. You’ll anticipate needs before they arise, manage competing priorities with calm efficiency, and bring structure and clarity to the fast-moving world of a global, high-growth company. You’ll be a key connector — ensuring our leadership team can focus on what matters most: leading people, driving growth, and delivering impact for millions of teachers and students around the world.
This opportunity is based in our fully renovated Auckland office and requires 5 days in office.
What You’ll Do

  • Partner directly with the CEO as a trusted right hand — providing proactive support across scheduling, communications, and strategic initiatives.
  • Manage complex calendars, meetings, and travel logistics across NZ, US, and UK time zones.
  • Prepare materials for leadership, board, and company meetings — agendas, notes, follow-ups, and presentations.
  • Draft, proof, and refine executive communications and correspondence.
  • Assist in preparing executive reporting for investors, board members, and senior stakeholders.
  • Maintain awareness of company priorities and ensure the CEO’s time aligns with strategic goals.
  • Coordinate and drive cadence for ELT meetings, planning sessions, and off-sites — ensuring accountability and follow-through.
  • Build strong relationships across teams and regions; connect dots between initiatives and people.
  • Help plan and execute executive-level events, such as global leadership retreats, off-sites, or company celebrations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in how the leadership team operates — processes, tools, and communication flow.

What You’ll Bring

  • 6+ years’ experience in a senior Business Operations role supporting C-suite executives, ideally in a fast-growing or global organisation.
  • Strong business judgment, discretion, and ability to handle sensitive matters with integrity.
  • Outstanding organisational, project management, and communication skills.
  • High level of proficiency in Google Workspace, Slack, Asana, and productivity tools.
  • Comfortable working across multiple time zones and managing complex logistics.
  • Confident writer and communicator — able to distil and translate information for different audiences.
  • A proactive, forward-thinking problem solver who anticipates needs and acts with initiative.

What We Do

We come to work everyday to help foster a positive learning journey for everyone. Kami was developed in Aotearoa, New Zealand by four university friends who decided to make a difference. Ten years later, we’ve grown into a team of over 100 Kami-leons with a shared goal of supporting classroom heroes and leveling the playing field so that all students, no matter their age, grade, or ability, can love learning. We’re proud to have been named one of Time magazine’s most influential companies in 2022 and included in the Deloitte Fast 50 as the fastest growing company and fastest growing exporter in 2021. Our investors include leading Australian venture capitalist firm Right Click Capital, CapitalPitch, New Zealand-based Flying Kiwi Angels, New Zealand Venture Investment Fund, and notable Silicon Valley investors such as Sam Altman of Y Combinator and Scott Nolan of Founders Fund. Our Team: We believe that having a dedicated, enthusiastic, and non-hierarchical team can achieve remarkable things — we’re well on-track to proving it, too. Our company culture embraces diversity, compassion, transformation, and most importantly, fun! With these values, we're working to add a little magic to education so that teachers and students can achieve so much more together. We thrive in an encouraging environment where people can share ideas, generate solutions, and grow. Join us in building the future of education. Get in touch at [email protected], we’d love to hear from you!
