ABOUT VEG

In 2014, VEG was born with a mission to help people and their pets when they need it most by challenging norms and fixing the ER experience. Since then, we’ve expanded rapidly, with hospitals nationwide open 24/7/365, and created an ER experience that focuses on what our pets and pet parents really need. We’ve done the same for our people (VEGgies), finding a way to say YES so they are empowered to achieve great things, grow in unexpected ways, and find a place where they truly belong.

We’re rethinking emergency care from every angle—from how we run our hospitals to how we support the people working inside them. That’s where our headquarters team comes in. Whether building technology to make our hospitals more efficient, recruiting and growing incredible VEGgies, or bringing our brand to life through marketing, our VQ (VEG Headquarters) team makes it all possible—ensuring our hospitals and people have everything they need to help pets and their families.

VEG is a 2025 and 2026 certified Great Place to Work®.

THE JOB

The best Executive Assistants don’t just manage calendars. They create leverage and partners.

As Executive Assistant to VEG’s President and Co-Founder, you’ll have a front-row seat to one of the fastest-growing customer facing businesses in the country. You’ll work alongside a founder, an exceptional leadership team, and a world-class Board as VEG continues to scale and redefine veterinary emergency care.

You’ll help ensure time, energy, and attention are focused on what matters most. You’ll create clarity, anticipate what’s next, solve problems before they become problems, and help turn a fast-moving stream of ideas and priorities into action.

This is a highly trusted role for someone who thrives in a fast-moving, founder-led environment. Priorities evolve. New information changes the plan. The right person doesn’t become attached to yesterday’s agenda—they adjust quickly, exercise thoughtful judgment, and help everyone around them move with clarity rather than chaos.

One day, you may be preparing for a Board meeting. The next, you may be coordinating hospital visits, supporting an executive search, solving a complex travel issue, or creating more space for the work that will have the greatest impact.

Because work and life naturally intersect in this type of partnership, you’ll also coordinate select personal priorities—including appointments, travel, and logistics—so everything runs smoothly.

If you’re looking for a traditional administrative role, this probably isn’t it. If you’re energized by solving problems, exercising judgment, moving quickly, and making a meaningful impact behind the scenes, and being with us for the long haul, we’d love to meet you.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Own the President and Co-Founder’s calendar as a strategic tool, ensuring time reflects VEG’s most important priorities. Less is more.
  • Anticipate needs, prepare concise meeting briefs, and solve problems before they require attention.
  • Manage complex scheduling, travel, and select personal appointments and logistics with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Drive follow-through by tracking commitments, clarifying ownership, and closing important loops.
  • Build trusted relationships with the Chief of Staff, Board, executive team, and leaders across VEG, representing the company with warmth and sound judgment.
  • Improve systems, model VEG’s culture, and handle highly confidential business and personal information with discretion.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Experience supporting a founder, CEO, President, or senior executive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Exceptional judgment, strong anticipation, and the confidence to act independently and respectfully push back.
  • Outstanding organization and attention to detail, with the ability to adapt quickly when priorities change.
  • Clear, concise communication and the interpersonal instincts to build trust at every level.
  • Professional maturity, discretion, and flexibility when important needs arise outside standard business hours.
  • A low-ego, ownership-oriented approach and a genuine desire to help others succeed and make VEG better.
  • Someone whose energy makes the day better for everyone around them

WHO YOU ARE

  • You anticipate. You see around corners, think several steps ahead, and solve problems before you’re asked. Your stories often begin with “I noticed…” rather than “I was told to…”
  • You exercise judgment. You know what matters. You can distinguish between what is urgent, what is important, what can be handled independently, and what needs to be escalated. You aren’t afraid to respectfully push back when there is a better path.
  • You own outcomes. If something is yours, it gets done. You follow through, close loops, and take responsibility for the result—not just your part of the process.
  • You adapt. Plans change. Priorities shift. New information emerges. You don’t become frustrated or defensive—you reset quickly, stay positive, and focus on what matters now.
  • You care. This work matters to you — not just the tasks, but the people. You notice when someone's having a hard day, you remember the small things, and you take genuine pride in making the President's life (and everyone around him) a little easier.

HOW WE INVEST IN YOU

  • Competitive Compensation: $120,000 - $150,000 all in + benefits
  • Comprehensive health and wellness benefits that start on day one, and access to free therapy or counseling
  • Paid parental leave, up to 12 weeks at 100% of regular salary, and offering inclusive fertility and family-building care for all types of families
  • Unlimited PTO to use for vacation or sick days—however you need it!
  • Generous employee referral program, so our awesome people can bring in more awesome people.
  • And the little (big) things, like casual office attire, ability to bring your fur baby to work, cool VEG swag, food in the fridge for when you’re hungry and free lunches twice a week!!
  • Company laptop and a monthly cell phone reimbursement
