The Role
High Point University School of Law invites applicants to serve as Director of Administration to assist the Dean and to assist him in managing the school’s administrative operations and budget. The position presents the exciting opportunity to develop the operational groundwork for the new school, which welcomed its inaugural J.D. class in August 2024 and moves into its new building in July 2025. The anticipated start date for this position is May 15, 2025.
Qualifications:
Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required.
Experience and Training:
- Ten or more years of experience in office and/or project management, or its substantial equivalent.
- Experience in budget administration is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:
- Willingness to contribute actively to the mission, vision, goals, and objectives of the School of Law and University.
- Outstanding organization and project management skills, including a keen attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee and coordinate with other staff members.
- Excellent interpersonal and listening skills sufficient to work effectively with School of Law faculty, staff, and students.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills that enable candidate to communicate with friendliness, enthusiasm, patience, and respect.
- Strong computer skills and facility with technology, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, budgeting software, and the ability to learn new software programs quickly.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
Essential Functions:
- Under the supervision of the Law Dean, provides administrative support to advance the program development and operations of the law school.
- Assists the Law Dean and the Dean’s designees in developing the law school budget.
- Helps Law Dean manage the law school budget.
- Works with University officials to coordinate the purchasing needed for law school operations.
- Assists the Law Dean with scheduling, promoting, and conducting law school programs and events.
- Assists the Law Dean with school communications to internal University constituents and to external stakeholders.
- Works with the Law Dean and Dean’s designees to ensure compliance with law school accreditation standards, bar admission requirements, and University policies and procedures.
- Works with the Law Dean and Dean’s designees to gather data for periodic reporting to accreditors and other law school surveying organizations.
- Assists the Law Dean with onboarding new law school hires.
- Assists the Law Dean with scheduling and calendars.
- Assists the Law Dean in supervising selected non-faculty law school staff as the school expands and more staff are hired.
- Provides administrative assistance to Law Dean.
- All other duties as assigned by Law Dean.
