I’m the cofounder & CEO of a fast-growing tech startup based in Somerville. This summer I need a sharp, resourceful intern who can keep my job and the company’s day-to-day running smoothly. Think of yourself as a “get-stuff-done” force-multiplier: clearing my inbox, booking travel, wrangling calendars, coordinating board meetings, dropping off mail, ordering supplies — whatever frees me to focus on building the business.
What You'll Do
- Inbox & Comms: Triage email, draft/reply to messages, and keep threads moving.
- Calendar & Meetings: Schedule (and reschedule) internal/external meetings, send reminders, prep materials, coordinate board logistics.
- Errands & Logistics: Mail packages, pick up items locally, stock the office, handle large lunch orders, arrange deliveries.
- Travel: Research flights/lodging, build itineraries, and handle last-minute changes.
- General Admin: Maintain contact lists, file docs, chase signatures, and tackle the dozens of one-off tasks that pop up daily.
What Makes You a Fit
- Strong writer & communicator—you can mirror my tone and crank out clear emails and docs fast.
- Time-management ninja—you’ll juggle shifting priorities without dropping balls.
- Bias for action—you don’t wait for instructions; you anticipate what’s next.
- Thick skin & flexibility—startup life isn’t 9-to-5; you’re okay answering a late message.
- Local presence—you live/study in Somerville, Cambridge, or nearby Boston neighborhoods and can run occasional in-person errands.
- Tech-savvy with G-Suite, Slack, basic spreadsheets, and a willingness to learn new tools on the fly.
- Enrolled at a Boston-area school.
Details
- Schedule: ~20-40 hrs/week, mostly remote with ad-hoc in-person tasks.
- Duration: Mid-May – late August.
- Compensation: $17–20/hr (based on skills you bring to the table).
- Reporting to: Cofounder/CEO
