Job Summary

The Excursions Site Lead provides hands-on leadership for Fortune’s after-school enrichment program, Fortune Excursions. The Site Lead manages program operations, staff, and enrichment activities to ensure a safe, engaging, and mission-aligned environment for scholars in grades TK–8.

Reporting directly to the Expanded Learning Opportunity Coordinator, the Site Lead collaborates with instructional staff, families, and community partners to create after-school experiences that extend Fortune’s culture of excellence beyond the school day.

This role is ideal for an emerging leader passionate about education, youth development, and building joyful, structured programs that empower students to explore their talents and interests.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Operations

  • Oversee daily site operations for the Excursions program, ensuring smooth transitions, student safety, and high-quality learning experiences.
  • Manage scholar and staff attendance records to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Maintain compliance with all Fortune School, state, and licensing standards, including required staff-to-student ratios.
  • Support and model Fortune’s “Magical Classroom” and restorative culture standards in all interactions.
  • Coordinate with school-day staff to align after-school supports with academic and behavioral expectations.

Program Development & Enrichment

  • Collaborate with the Program Specialist to design, implement, and evaluate enrichment activities that support academic, social, and emotional growth.
  • Facilitate partnerships with community organizations and staff-led clubs to bring innovative programming to students.
  • Gather and analyze feedback from staff and families to assess program effectiveness and inform improvement plans.

Staff & Family Engagement

  • Provide daily supervision, mentorship, and support to Excursions Instructors and volunteers.
  • Conduct regular team meetings, coaching sessions, and check-ins to ensure program quality and staff development.
  • Maintain open and professional communication with parents, guardians, and school staff.
  • Manage student behavior using Fortune’s restorative and positive reinforcement practices, ensuring consistent documentation and follow-up.

Administrative & Fiscal Management

  • Complete and submit all required reports, forms, and documentation, including child subsidy program paperwork.
  • Track and manage supplies, ensuring all materials are available, organized, and in good condition.
  • Collaborate with the Fiscal Analyst to manage the site budget and submit orders for approval in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date program records.
Qualifications

Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience supervising or coordinating youth programs in an educational, recreational, or enrichment setting.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, spreadsheets, and digital attendance systems (e.g., ProCare).
  • Ability to build positive relationships with diverse students, families, and staff.
  • Commitment to Fortune’s mission, vision, and core values.
  • Must pass background and fingerprint clearance through DOJ and FBI.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, child development, or related field.
  • Experience managing after-school or expanded learning programs.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands

  • Indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and interaction with students and staff.
  • Occasional lifting, bending, and carrying (up to 25 pounds).

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly Rate: $22.00 per hour
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:30 AM – 6:30 PM (60-minute unpaid lunch)
  • Paid Time Off: 12 paid sick days, 12 paid vacation days, and 2 floater days
  • Additional Paid Holidays: Including 4 weeks paid time off beyond vacation/floater days
  • Retirement: 403(b) plan with up to 4% employer match after one year
