We are seeking a highly self-motivated and detail-oriented Exchange & Cloud Infrastructure systems engineer with a passion for excellence to join our IT team. This position is responsible for administering a complex, hybrid enterprise environment, specializing in Microsoft Exchange within a classified computing infrastructure, while playing a critical role in our ongoing cloud modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate will have deep on-premises messaging expertise seamlessly blended with strong multi-cloud (IaaS/PaaS) experience.

What you'll do:
Core Infrastructure & Cloud Administration
- Administer and support the Microsoft Exchange environment (on-premises) ensuring secure programmatic data separation in a multi-program, classified environment.
- Manage, monitor, and optimize hybrid computing architectures.
- Perform operating system and application installations, configurations, patch management, and security updates for servers and related devices.
- Manage backups, disaster recovery protocols, and storage/tape management systems for both local and cloud-hosted data.
Security, Compliance, & Hardening
- Apply strict compliance and hardening updates to on-premises and cloud infrastructures.
- Represent the company during audit activities, ensuring systems meet government regulations and standards (e.g., NIST, CMMC) to maintain accreditation and authorization to operate.
- Implement and manage advanced Email Threat Protection, security gateways, and cloud security postures.
Service Delivery & Tier 3 Support
- Address complex service requests and incident tickets submitted by the user community.
- Manage a senior-level support queue, troubleshooting mail flow, mail headers, and data wipe processes.
- Provide exceptional customer service, resolving IT issues proactively, promptly, and independently.
Project Engineering & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with network, security, and systems engineering teams to design scalable architectural patterns and facilitate effective issue resolution.
- Support strategic IT projects, including Linux environments, enterprise networking, and cloud migration initiatives.
Position Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Minimum 5+ years of overall IT engineering experience or systems administration roles
- Core Systems: 5+ years of experience with MS Exchange, Office 365, and Active Directory.
- Cloud Infrastructure: 1+ years of experience managing, designing within major cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP) in a hybrid setup.
Preferred Characteristics:
- Cybersecurity and virtual server management related experience preferred
