Summary
The Data Analyst position provides both broad and detailed operational analysis to multiple departments within the Oncor organization. This position assists with monitoring team performance and the development of change requests and defects related to various Oncor system platforms. The Data Analyst position provides analysis of issues to identify impacts to customers, market participants, and revenue. In addition, this position identifies operational opportunities for improvement across various departments within Oncor. This position uses knowledge and experience to provide analytic support to Measurement Services, Distribution Operations, and Rates and Regulatory teams.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform all essential functions and aspects of the job, including any other specific job requirements.
- Assist in generating high quality reports and analyze output to support operational activities in Measurement, Field Activities, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) processing, Billing, and Issues Resolution.
- Design, build, and maintain small applications that report on operational and revenue performance.
- Work indirectly through senior team members with business partners to improve processes and resolve operational challenges.
- Perform frequent ad hoc data mining, reporting, and generation of decision support data and presentations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills
- Ability to write new and understand existing Structured Query Language (SQL) queries utilizing various Database Management Systems (DBMS), including Operational Outage Data System (OODS), Oracle, Microsoft Access, and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook.
- Basic understanding of revenue accounting, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) transaction processing, and Field Activities.
- Working knowledge of (International Business Machines) IBM Cognos Analytics.
- Basic understanding of database design ranging from desktop to mainframe environments and data warehousing concepts.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
- 2 or more years of professional experience in analytical roles is required.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or Computer Science is encouraged to apply.
- Data mining experience in a heterogeneous database environment is encouraged to apply.
