Job Title: Environmental Services Tech I (EVS I)

Full Time - 1st Shift

The primary goal of Environmental Services is to provide a clean and safe environment for our
patients, visitors, and staff.

Job Description:

The Environmental Service Technician I is responsible for executing the daily duties required to establish and maintain a safe, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing care environment. EVS Tech will have contact with patients, visitors, and clinical and non-clinical staff. Contact may include physical, psychological, educational, and safety related and should be appropriate to the specific demographics of patients served in assigned service areas.

Requirements:

  • Ensuring timely room turns related to patient throughput within the basic principles of environmental hygiene and infection prevention.
  • Empties trash, cleans trash can as needed, relines can with clean liner.
  • Removes infectious waste and fills sharps containers as needed.
  • Damp dusts furniture, ledges, and fixtures with a germicidal agent.
  • Dry mops, wet mops floors and vacuums carpeting.
  • High dust vents, over bed lights and other items over shoulder height.
  • Operates several types of vacuum cleaners and other miscellaneous cleaning tools.
  • Expected at times to wear personal protection equipment to include rubber gloves, eye protection, gowns, booties, masks, and hair covers.
  • Other duties as assigned such as performing alternate EVS aid responsibilities as needed.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Prefer completion of High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Safely and properly lift and transport items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Safely and properly pull, push, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch and stretch.
