- Assist the Director across all departmental functions, ensuring alignment with established hospital policies and procedures.
- Manage budgets and resources by effectively controlling budgeted manpower, materials, equipment, and finances. This includes assisting in the annual budget development for the department, overseeing daily budget adherence, monitoring expenses, and identifying cost optimization opportunities.
- Ensure policy and procedure adherence by reviewing and upholding all EVS procedures to comply with internal policies and external regulations, including, DNV, Federal, State, and Local standards.
- Oversee daily operations, monitoring activities and making necessary adjustments to schedules and staffing to ensure efficient task accomplishment across all shifts, with adequate supplies available.
- Optimize workflows by managing and ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of work processes and employee scheduling systems, clearly defining roles, responsibilities, and accountability.
- Maintain quality control and compliance by conducting inspections to assess the cleanliness and safety of facilities, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing corrective actions to ensure high-quality standards and continuous compliance.
- Manage linen distribution (as applicable), including tracking and maintaining accountability of linen supplies.
- Foster staff development by providing ongoing training and development opportunities for the EVS team.
- Lead and motivate the EVS Team, nurturing a positive and productive work environment.
- Work closely with other hospital departments to address environmental issues, manage waste disposal, and ensure a coordinated approach to maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Promote collaborative interpersonal relationships with leaders, senior management, colleagues, doctors, patients, and customers.
- Resolve patient satisfaction concerns promptly and effectively related to environmental services, ensuring a positive patient experience.
- Manage vendor relationships, fostering mutually beneficial partnerships through negotiation and effective communication with suppliers.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, actively seeking opportunities for process improvements, efficiency gains, and the adoption of new technologies or best practices within EVS operations to enhance service delivery and outcomes.
- Contribute to the hospital's emergency preparedness plans. Coordinate EVS response during internal and external disasters, including outbreaks, spills, or other critical incidents.
- Establish EVS goals and objectives that support the organization's mission and strategic direction.
- On-call availability is a requirement for this role; refer to your department's policy for details.
- Performs other duties as requested by primary manager that do not compromise moral code of conduct or protocols set in place for patient or employee safety

Qualifications
Minimum Education Required- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
- Five (5) years supervisory-related experience.
- Three (3) years management-level related experience.
- Certification and membership through A.H.E. (Association for the Health Care Environment) as a Certified Health Care Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) or the ability to obtain certification within 18 months.
- Certification and membership through I.E.H.A. (International Executive Housekeepers Association) as a certified or registered executive housekeeper.
Required Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities
- Comprehensive working knowledge of environmental services functions, including chemicals, tools, and equipment used for carpet and hard floor care.
- Current knowledge of budgeting, negotiating, and regulatory requirements.
- Must possess skills in the areas of computer operation, planning, directing, communication, and statistical analysis.
