The Role
Lead Kiva's philanthropic revenue growth by developing fundraising strategies, creating partnerships, and building a sustainable fundraising program. Collaborate with teams across the organization to execute initiatives effectively and represent Kiva externally.
Summary Generated by Built In

Kiva is a nonprofit that has been expanding access to capital through crowdfunded loans for nearly 20 years. Our global community of lenders has helped millions of people who lack access to traditional financial services start businesses, pursue education, and improve their lives. We operate at the intersection of technology and impact—combining the speed and innovation of a product-driven organization with the mission and depth of a nonprofit.

We’re at an inflection point. We’ve built a strong foundation: millions of individual lenders, long-standing enterprise partnerships, an engaged and supportive board, and a growing body of evidence on our impact. Beyond our core Kiva.org lending platform, we are expanding our impact investing capabilities—positioning us to bring significantly more capital into the system and reach more people around the world.

We are seeking an Executive Vice President, Strategic Partnerships reporting to the CEO, to lead the growth of philanthropic revenue and build long-term partnerships. This is a broad, high-impact role spanning major gifts, foundations, corporates, and catalytic capital. We are looking for a mission-driven leader who can turn Kiva’s offerings into a clear strategy and guide a team to create a strong, lasting fundraising program.

What You’ll Do

Create New Funding Opportunities
Own the overall fundraising strategy and execution across foundations, high-net-worth individuals, and corporates. Focus on identifying and creating new opportunities and pathways—not just managing what already exists.

Build to $10M+ Annually
Build a fundraising program that can reach $10M+ a year. Set the strategy, build the pipeline, and lead the team to get there from the ground up.

Make the Fundraising System Repeatable
Put clear systems in place so the team can consistently develop and close opportunities year after year and create visibility across the organization into pipeline progress.

Collaborate Across Disciplines
Partner closely with Marketing, Impact Investing, Finance, and Technology teams to identify and pursue opportunities that require cross-functional approaches.

Lead and Develop the Team
Set a high performance bar, hire great talent and build a strong cohesive team culture.

Represent Kiva Externally
Serve as a key external leader for Kiva—building relationships with major funders and partners and representing the organization with credibility on a global stage.

At this time, we can only consider applicants with authorization to work in the United States on a permanent, full-time basis; unfortunately we cannot provide visa sponsorship.

You Might Be a Fit If You
  • Are deeply mission-driven, with a strong sense of doing what is right, and willing to stand up for it
  • Lead with authenticity and integrity, and build trust with partners and stakeholders
  • Are a builder who is comfortable starting from ambiguity and turning ideas into programs that perform
  • Work exceptionally well as part of a team, putting shared outcomes ahead of individual credit
  • Can operate at both the strategic and execution level—setting direction while driving follow-through
  • Enjoy storytelling and building genuine, long-term partnerships
  • Have 12+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and/or partnerships, including owning a program that reached or approached $10M+ annually
  • Have led senior teams and operated at the executive level, including working effectively with boards
  • Experience in impact investing or blended finance is a plus
What We Offer
  • A work-from-home position; final candidate must be authorized to work in the U.S
  • An opportunity to improve real lives, solve hard problems, and change the world
  • Friendly, supportive, and adventurous environment with a team of engaged colleagues
  • A comprehensive, industry-leading benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, parental leave, professional development, 401k matching, and unlimited PTO. Some of these benefits have eligibility requirements. Many of these benefits are subsidized or fully paid for by Kiva.
  • Opportunities to connect with and learn from colleagues and partners around the world
  • Salary range: $245K - $275K; a final offer will be dependent upon a candidate’s location, skills, and experience.
  • Currently, we are not open to working from home employees residing in the following states: AL, AK, AR, CT, HI, ID, IN, KY, MS, MO, NE, NM, ND, OK, RI, SD, TN, WV, WI, and WY

A diverse and inclusive workplace where we learn from each other is an integral part of Kiva's culture. We actively welcome people of different backgrounds, experiences, abilities, and perspectives. We are an equal opportunity employer and a great place to work. Join us and help us achieve our mission!

We will only accept applications directly from candidates. Kiva will not be responsible for any recruiting agency fees, absent a formal agreement.

What We Do

Kiva (www.kiva.org) is a mission-driven technology non-profit. We run a global marketplace platform for crowd-funded micro-loans to serve the financially excluded in sectors such as education, water, clean energy, and refugee resettlement. Kiva combines the culture and approach of an internet start-up with a mission to alleviate poverty. We aim to drive social impact and enable opportunity while providing a borrower-to-lender connection: “Loans that change lives." In just 15 years, Kiva has raised nearly $1.5 billion in loan capital for more than 2 million borrowers in 84 countries. Kiva’s lenders fund over $1 million in loans every 3 days.
