Summary:
The Executive Vice President (EVP), Engineering is a senior executive responsible for leading the company’s engineering strategy, software development, and technical delivery across all mortgage technology platforms. This role drives innovation, scalability, and modernization of systems supporting mortgage origination, underwriting, servicing, compliance, and borrower-facing digital experiences.
The EVP, Engineering partners with the CEO, COO, CIO, Product leadership, and Operations teams to ensure engineering excellence, platform reliability, and competitive advantage through technology.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Engineering Leadership & Strategy
Lead the overall engineering vision, architecture, and execution roadmap across the organization.
Build and scale high-performing engineering teams aligned with business priorities.
Establish engineering best practices for secure, compliant, and high-quality software delivery.
Mortgage Platform Development
Oversee the design and development of mortgage technology solutions including:
Loan Origination System (LOS) integrations and enhancements
Borrower portals and digital mortgage tools
Servicing and payment technology
Compliance, reporting, and investor delivery systems
Drive adoption of modern frameworks, APIs, and automation to accelerate mortgage workflows.
Digital Transformation & Innovation
Champion initiatives that modernize mortgage systems through:
Cloud-native architecture
AI-driven underwriting and document intelligence
Workflow automation and straight-through processing
Improved borrower experience via mobile-first platforms
Identify emerging fintech innovations that strengthen operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Operational Excellence & Delivery
Ensure predictable execution of engineering projects with strong delivery discipline.
Implement agile development practices, DevOps pipelines, and CI/CD standards.
Partner with operations to reduce cycle times and improve loan processing scalability.
Security, Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure engineering systems meet mortgage industry regulatory and security requirements including:
CFPB, FHA, VA, FNMA/FHLMC guidelines
GLBA, SOC2, and cybersecurity standards
Embed security-by-design and governance into the development lifecycle.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with Product Management to align engineering execution with business and borrower needs.
Collaborate with mortgage operations leaders to ensure systems support production, compliance, and quality goals.
Serve as an executive sponsor for technology initiatives across departments.
Talent Development & Culture
Attract, develop, and retain top engineering talent.
Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.
Mentor engineering leaders and build succession pipelines.
Comply with all company policies and procedures.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has direct reports. Manages staff and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications:

Proven success building scalable technology platforms in regulated industries.
Strong track record leading enterprise engineering organizations through rapid growth and modernization.
Preferred Background
Experience in mortgage lending, servicing, fintech, or financial services technology.
Familiarity with mortgage systems such as Encompass, Empower, Black Knight, ICE, or proprietary LOS platforms.
Deep understanding of digital lending workflows and borrower experience technology.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required.
25+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5+ years in senior executive leadership roles.
Advanced degree (MBA or MS) preferred.
