As part of this transformation, the AI Enablement and Innovation program, under Digital Sydney is currently recruiting an Events Manager to support our growing AI Enablement and Innovation team. 

The Events Manager will support end-to-end event management for upcoming AI-related events, including stakeholder engagement, readiness planning and operational coordination while working closely with project teams and key stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Lead the planning, coordination and execution of events programs, managing multiple workstream, timelines and competing priorities

  • Source, evaluate and secure suitable venues, negotiating contracts and managing venue relationships to meet event requirements

  • Manage all events logistics, including venue setup, registration and attendee management and onsite event operations to ensure a seamless participant experience

  • Procure and manage external supplies and vendors, including production companies, photographers, entertainers, exhibitors, caterers and technical providers.

  • Identify, implement and manage digital event solutions and technologies, including event registration platforms, livestreaming, virtual and hybrid event platforms and audience engagement tools

  • Build and maintain a strong relationship with senior leaders, academic staff, volunteers, suppliers and presenters

About you

  • Proven experience coordinating and delivering end-to-end events, including conferences, workshops, seminars, forums and other educational functions.

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, timelines, budgets, and event deliverables simultaneously.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to build effective partnerships with clients, vendors, sponsors, speakers, and internal teams.

  • Demonstrated experience managing event budgets, procurement processes, contracts, and supplier relationships.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to respond effectively to rapidly changing priorities and operational challenges.

  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, ensuring high-quality event delivery and participant experience. 

  • Experience using event management platforms and Microsoft 365 applications, including Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Knowledge of hybrid and virtual event delivery platforms and associated stakeholder engagement strategies.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with senior leaders and stakeholders across complex organisations.

  • A customer-focused approach with a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes and exceptional participant experiences.
