The Role:

We are looking to hire a trader for our US Event Driven Strategies business. This will be an opportunity for a highly motivated individual that has a genuine interest in event driven investing. You will be required to execute multiple client single stock orders and multi-leg (including with currency or derivative hedge) spread orders.  You will be based in New York and work within a holistic global event driven business and in addition gain an understanding of international equity markets within a flat team structure. You will have the opportunity to interact closely with other key business lines within Clear Street namely operations, securities finance, derivatives, SWAPs, and prime brokerage. 

The Team:

Clear Street’s mission is to become a single-source platform that serves a variety of investor types across multiple asset classes on a global scale. The Clear Street U.K. team is bringing Clear Street’s established equities, options, and fixed-income prime brokerage business to a new market.

You will work in the Event Driven Strategies division which is a global holistic team with specific experiences in this niche asset class ranging from 8 to 25+ years. 

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this role are as follows:

• Work alongside the Global Head of Event Driven Strategies and broader team to provide agency best execution for clients in merger arbitrage, holding company, index rebalances and spin offs.
• Work alongside the Global Head of Event Driven Strategies and broader team to develop our internal tech processes to both enable efficient scaling of our business and help enable cross-selling synergy we develop with other areas of Clear Street.
• Maintain awareness of all regulatory, economic, and financial data and other important factors (e.g. macroeconomic) likely to affect the client base and products being marketed.

Skills required:

• Knowledge and experience, minimum 2 years, in executing cash equity agency orders and preferably in US Event Driven strategies.
• Deep knowledge of US and Canadian market structure and regulations.
• Base knowledge of derivative and bond execution.
• Very Strong IT, OMS, excel skills.  
• Coding skills preferable not essential. 
• Strong interpersonal skills. 
• Confident communicator with the ability to quickly build relationships with external clients and counterparties, and internal stakeholders.
• Thoughtful and analytic approach with attention to detail and a strong work ethic.  Must be a team player.
